~~~~CHAPTER 8~~~~
Complications~~~~
Seeing as the paramedics had told me to go to the hospital to get checked over properly, seeing as I could hardly walk, mom had taken me down to emergency while dad stayed back at the house to find out what'd happened. Matt came along with us to keep me company while we waited.
It was nearly eleven by the time we got out of there. It turned out that I'd somehow managed to fracture my ankle as I came down, which kinda helped to explain why I could hardly walk. So all in all, I was gonna be on crutches and unable to walk properly for a while.
Matt opened the door for me and helped me inside. Mom had decided that I should probably stay with him for a few weeks until they got everything sorted out.
I sat down on the sofa, putting my crutches down on the floor, then just laid down, feeling exhausted. Matt looked at me as he locked the door.
"You alright?" he asked, staying near the door and crossing his arms.
I just nodded and looked over at him.
"I'm sure I'll survive," I said, making Matt shake his head disapprovingly.
"Alright, well just let me know if you need anything."
I nodded and watched as he wandered away from the door and over to the entrance way of the room. He closed the sliding door that led into the kitchen and to other parts of the house before he sat down on the chair closest to me.
"Y'know," Matt said, picking up the T.V. remote and turning the T.V. on. "You couldn't have this happen on a weekend, could 'cha?"
I gave a tired laugh and Matt smiled.
"What's that s'posd to mean?" I asked.
Matt shrugged.
"It's only Wednesday," he said, his focus on the repeat of CSI. "We've gotta go to school for another two days. Couldn't you have waited 'til Saturday to burn down your house? Gee Zacky, this your way of gettin' outta school for a bit?"
I just laughed again and Matt looked to me with a smile. He always knew how to make people feel better about what was going on.
"Anyway, you should get some sleep," he said, turning his focus back to the T.V. "Just let me know if you need anything."
"You should try get some sleep as well Matt," I said, Matt just shrugging. "You can't stay up all night y'know."
"I will if I gotta," Matt said, changing the channel to some late night show. "Just watch me."
I just shook my head and closed my eyes, trying to get to sleep.
~~~~Matt's Point of View~~~~

Within about five minutes, Zacky had just completely crashed. I glanced over at him then got up and turned the light out, going back over to the chair and sitting down, focus back on the T.V.

My phone buzzed just after I'd sat down and I picked it up, looking at the caller ID and answering.

"Hey Jimmy, what's up?" I said, making sure to keep my voice down so I didn't wake Zacky.

"Hey man. I know it's kinda late, but I just wann'ed to call and check in to see how Zacky's goin'," Jimmy said from the other end of the line.

"Yeah, he's alright," I said, glancing over at where Zacky was fast asleep on the sofa. "We got outta the hospital 'bout half an hour ago, but he's asleep at the moment."
