When classes end, harry wonders what changed so quickly between him and Malfoy. Less than two weeks ago he couldn't stand the git, and now he feels the sudden urge to befriend him, but he doesn't know why.
It's not like Malfoy was ever nice to him or his friend, harry isn't even sure if he can consider this new behavior as nice.

What Harry does know, is that Malfoy sticks out the tip of his tong and frowns slightly when he concentrates, that he has three little birthmarks behind his left ear, that he runs his hand trough his hair at least 34 times in one class, at least in divination, although Harry is sure that isn't a standard number.
And that Malfoy has, except grey, a little pale-blue in his eyes.

'Where are you going?' Ron asks when he goes left instead of right when they walk out of History of Magic; their last subject of today.

'I figured I forgot my red quill in potions.' Harry lies, Merlin, he's getting better at it every time.

Ron hesitates for a moment and sighs. 'Alright, see you in the common room then?'

'Sure.' Harry smiles and walks straight to the library.
He knew he would find Malfoy here, harry doesn't know why, but he noticed that Malfoy is here almost as much as Hermione, maybe more.

'Hello!' Harry says cheerfully, not wanting to start with the usual, grumpy 'Malfoy.'

'What is it, Potter?' Malfoy sighs, not looking up from his book.

'I was wondering when we should expect the elf back with news?' Harry asks, ignoring Malfoy's bored tone.

'She already came back.' Malfoy replies, casting a silencing spell around them.

Harry raises his eyebrows in suprise, he hadn't expect her to be back so soon.
'Did she say something useful?'

'She did, actually, she lost her lower arm because she tried to grab the globe when it was on father's desk, it's cursed, apparently.' Malfoy says matter-of-factly.

'You're joking, right?' Harry asks shocked. Lost her lower arm? Why on earth is Malfoy so cool about that?!?

'I'm afraid I am not. But I maneged to stop the bleeding, I had to skip Runes for it.' Malfoy says, still not looking up from his book.

'Can you stop reading for a second?! AN ELF LOST HER LOWER ARM.' Harry snaps and Malfoy closes his book.

'It's not like we can do something about it, Potter. All we can do is looking up curses with the same effect. I already started, as you can see- ' Malfoy hold up the book he was reading. '-and I suggest you do the same.'

'Have you found anything yet?' Harry asks.

'No. I've gone trough 8 books since I got here, which is 30 minutes ago, and none of them say anything about a spell which makes the bone dissapear, cuts and explodes.'

'How do you know it did all that?.'

'I inspected the wound, the bone just completely disappeared, the upper arm was completely intact, but the lower arm was cut of precisely. And no, it wasn't only a cutting spell because the bone in the upper arm was fully intact, even though the cut was above the end of the bone. And the elf said she was thrown back by an explosion.' Malfoy explains and harry looks at him impressed.
He never knew Malfoy was that smart, and he doesn't know if he should believe Malfoy, but it sounds all very logical when he explains it like that.
