"You ready?" I asked Fabian, tying his black tie for him. He was wearing a white dress shirt with nice pants, for the big occasion today. Today was the last big party the college had before everybody got crammed with finals and essays and exams and papers and stress and all that. The nice thing about this college is that since the high school is on the same grounds, we get out a week earlier than them so that leaving isn't so hectic. This year, we got out on May 9th, I was ecstatic. It was April 12th, and I could see the end soon.
"Mhm." he mumbled back, pulling me forward so that his gentle lips touched mine. We were alone in his room, surrounded by books and instruments. "Remember our pact we made in the beginning of the year? We aren't gonna let Sibuna things get in the way of college things."
"Right." I nodded, crossing my arms.
"And remember, be safe. You know better than to interact with their minions, now that we know what they look like." Fabian sat down on his bed, tying his shoes.
"Right." I said, again. "No drinks from minion-like strangers."
"And like the last major party we had first semester, I'm gonna have Eddie, or Amber or someone keep an eye on you at all times since I'll be on stage. That seemed to work last time."
"Right." I said, yet again. Last time, I complained that he ordered a watchdog over me. But now, I need all of the help I can get.
"I'm glad you agree. You ready?" he asked me, getting up.
"Ye-"
"Hey guys!" Trevor, the bassist, exclaimed. Michael, the guitarist, and Drew, the drummer, trailed behind. The Reckless Age members were all here.
"What's up?" Fabian rejoiced, sending out a bro-hug to Michael.
"Always nice to see you, Nina. You're looking as beautiful as ever, today." Drew told me.
Fabian slapped a hand on his shoulder. "Easy there, mate."
I laughed, "Thanks, Drew. I feel like I haven't seen you guys in forever."
Suddenly, Amber peeped her head inside the door frame. "Are you guys coming? There's no party without music." Amber left, and then she poked her head back inside to add, "-And you're looking so pretty, today, Nins. I'm really loving that crop top." she nodded her head in agreement.
"Looks like I'm not the only one!" Drew laughed. Fabian flicked Drew on the head.
Fabian put his hand on my back, leading me out of the room. Once we were on the back porch, we had to part ways. "I'll be watching. I'd wish you luck, but you don't need it. Do you plan on singing On My Mind again? It's my favorite." I said, biting my lip and winking.
"Of course." Fabian said, before enclosing me into one of his famous giant bear hugs. It made me feel so gentle, so precious. I giggled before trying to escape.
"Not today." Fabian responded, firmly.
I gave up trying. It was useless until he actually let go.
I heard Eddie's voice come from inside Anubis. "Are we enclosing Nina into a bear hug? I call dibs." Eddie came over to the other side of me and also wrapped his arms around me. Now all I could see is the darkness. And all I could do is laugh.
"No, no!" I let out a slight scream. "Come on, you guys know that you're my two favorite guys in the world, but does that give you permission to do this?" I muffled into Fabian's chest.
"Why, yes!" Jerome added, enclosing me even more.
I sighed, before dropping to my knees to escape. "Ha!" I teased.
