We all need someone to drive us mad.
☼ Phoebe
"We are in the studio we were in a couple of days ago, but we can come by and get you once we're done sorting all of this out. It might take a while though." Tyler continues through the other side of the phone.
"Alright, but is Josh-"
"I have to go, Phoebe." The boy interrupted, letting his voice sound agitated with frustration. "I'll see you later."
"Oh, Okay. Bye Ty-"
"Bye." The dial tone interrupted me and cut the conversation short.
I stay looking at my new phone for a minute before I acknowledge the undeniable stare that Jaime was giving me from the other side of the vehicle. His blue eyes held what seemed like a mixture of jealousy and confusion.
"Josh?" Jaime didn't hesitate to ask and fill his tone with bitterness. "Is that who you're wanting to see?"
I shrug, "I'm staying with my friend Tyler; Josh just happens to be there because they're dealing with some issue."
"And you're just gonna go?" He questions further, obviously feeling uncomfortable when faced with the very mention of Joshua, let alone the idea of me seeing him at such a late hour. "Looking like that?"
"I mean, sure." I pull at my skirt self consciously, "What's your point?"
"My point is: isn't it too convenient that Josh is in there right now? That he is distrupting our date."
"I was the one that called."
Jaime sucked at his teeth, "Well, do you really want him around right now?"
"Jaime, just drive, okay? I'm staying with my friend Tyler, if Josh happens to come with, I can't stop him." I lay my hand gently over his at an attempt to comfort him, "Please know that I'm not consciously trying to meet up with Josh, we're not even close." I remember all the things that he hasn't told me and the way he speaks about me behind my back. If there was something Jaime was right about is that Josh has a way with disrupting things.
Then again, so do I.
"I'll just go ahead and take you home then." He takes the car out of park and exhales. "If you don't like being around him you don't have to go."
"I'll be safer with them than being all alone." I answer.
"To be completely honest with you, I'm more worried about what Josh will do to you."
