"I cannot believe any of this shit." I huffed silently to myself under my
breath.
As I pushed through the glass door of the lobby, I spotted Josh and Tyler waiting under the awning to escape the gradually worsening rain. I looked to Tyler sympathetically, before rushing past the two boys, only to be stopped by Josh's tattooed arm.
"What's wrong?" He asked, his voice softer than usual. "What happened up there?"
"Don't touch me." I dropped me gaze to the ground, hoping he didn't notice the quiver in my voice as I go to walk away again.
He grabs both of my wrists and grips them tightly, again making me ache all over. "Talk to me Phoebe." he pleaded softly. "Tell me what happened with Alex. What did she tell you?"
"Enough." I said solemnly.
Unconsciously, his grip tightens, "You were up in questioning for over an hour."
"Get off of me." My voice no longer weak with fear and my eyes no longer refusing contact with his.
"What did she say to you?" He leaned in closer to speak over the pattering of droplets on the roof above.
"I said to get the fuck off of me." I spat once again, I watched as his eyes widen.
He loosens his grip from surprise at my harsh tone, and I pull unforgivingly away. I pause for a moment and watch him, my breathing was heavy and my hazel eyes darted between his mocha ones.
With a deep sigh he rubbed the back of his neck slowly. "You're obviously mad-"
"That's the understatement of the year." I rolled my eyes as I ventured into the rain.
"Wait, Phoebe! Let me take you home." He offered as he jogged up beside me.
I continue to walk, "I'm sure I'll be fine."
"I just don't want you walking in the rain." He stopped following me and pushed the soaked blue curls out of his face.
"And I don't want anything from you." I stated coldly, facing forward, refusing to look into his puppy eyes.
"Please, I don't want you getting sick." He pleaded.
"Oh, because now you care about me?" i hissed back at him as I jogged farther into the blanket of rain. "Fuck you, Josh Dun or whoever you think you are."
I could still hear him calling after me as I left, he was calling my name as I ignored him, screaming into an empty sky. I could barely see the sidewalk in front of me, and I hugged my arms around myself to keep my bones from shivering. I pulled my sleeve down over my hand and wiped the water droplets from my phone just to see missed calls from Tyler and Josh both.
I didn't want to talk to him, I didn't want to talk to Tyler and I definitely didn't want to talk to Alex. Her name tasted like copper in my mouth, and the thought of her made me black with anger. I watched my feet as I walked, each step landing in another puddle, and each step a closer to being home in bed. I didn't know how long had passed before I felt someone behind me, the low visibility made it almost impossible to see what the car looked like, but I had assumed it was Josh.
I was right.
I watched him roll the window down slowly as he pulled up next to me, maybe going two or three mile an hour.
"Please get in the car."
"Not going to happen." I scoffed at him, although I really wanted to climb into the warm, dry, vehicle.
