Chapter 4

"So let me get this straight you borrowed his cereal? But before that you saw him when he came to your door with his mother and brought your family lasagna. However in your eyes giving your new neighbours lasagna is almost a crime," Kylie said still slightly confused as we boarded the bus.

"You forgot to mention he was a jerk this morning," Tara said leaning in to speak with us since she was again standing beside the seats and Alice sat in the seats in front of us beside a nerdy looking girl who's ear buds were so loud I could clearly tell that she was listening to the new song Roar by Katy Perry. There was no worry of her hearing us.

"Plus you can't blame it on not being a morning person, because he was fine earlier when you borrowed his cereal," Alice said. It was like they thought he was a puzzle and they were determined to put him back together. After carefully dissecting him.

"Maybe that's his way of flirting?" Kylie said unsure. I rolled my eyes. If that was so he was worse at flirting then Stiles when he flirted with Lydia in season 1.

"Why do you guys care anyway?" I asked as the nerdy girl got off at her stop and Tara quickly stole her spot, earning a dirty look from one of the 12th graders. Tara in her typical spunky style stuck her tongue out at her and turned to face me.

"We care because you're our friend and he may be a year older but it's totally fair game," Tara said as if it were obvious.

"What?" I said completely lost. Were they really making this a game?

"Well you see, he may be out school bad boy-" Kylie started however she was cut off by Alice.

"Although almost all the girls have drooled over him at one time or another he's not actually popular. He doesn't have any friends he is kind of just there. You see if he actually dated anyone he may actually be popular but he isn't," Alice said as if that explained it.

"Basically he is considered middle class among rankings and since your with us so are you so it's fair game," Tara said rolling her eyes. Seriously, I'm not stupid I'm just occasionally slow. "Plus I would love to see you 'break the bad boy' I bet he's a softy."

"Well this is our stop," Alice said poking me. I looked out the window and sure enough this is where I had gotten on the bus this morning but she didn't get off here too did she? Lucas said that we were the only other people at the stop. I got up and we made our way off the bus.

"No offence but since when was this, your stop?" I asked her confused. She just laughed.

"I live at the end of the street I just usually walk to Kylie's stop because it's not too far away, but since your here I figure I can start using my own stop again," she said nudging me. "Well bye," she said as we stood in front of my house.

"How did you know?" I asked her she just laughed again. Could she read minds because I think it is too late for me to develop a filter on my thoughts.

"I have seen the for sale sign in front of this house for too long. I know that this one is yours, because it's the only one that was ever for sale," she said smiling as if I should have known and really I should have. I heard Derek and Lucas still further down the street. Slow pokes. "Oh, is someone looking at Lucas?" Alice asked me.

"Whatever," I said looking at the ground. Arguing would have gotten me nowhere she would have said 'someone's in denial,' and then the argument would have continued. "What the," I said as something grabbed onto my leg.

"Help me!" a crying kid said as he refused to let go of my leg.

"Hey what's wrong?" I ask prying the kid off of my leg and kneeling down to his level.
