I know it's late for Halloween guess what I don't care! I know it has been too long please don't hate me 5 months I know I am a bad person; I lose sleep at night.
Chapter 6
"Claire can we please do something a bit more exciting?" asked Kylie as she was stretched out on my bed going through a box of old CDs.
"I warned you that I needed to finish unpacking," I said as I rearanged my books by author again. I was putting my books on my book shelf. I loved books because no matter where you were they were always the same. I know what you are thinking, Claire you have lived there for almost two weeks and you're not done unpacking yet? No I am not would you like to do it for me? Allison Argent took over a month .
"So how is science going?" Kylie asked. She was in that class with me so she already knew that Mr. Brown was definitely not my favorite teacher. He was boring, his voice was completely moto-toned 100% of the time, and he adored reading the notes I handed to Kylie out loud. He had only read 4 and we had passes at least 50 between the two of us. I had to admit once I got caught on purpose just so that we could see the look on his face when he read that we thought he was boring.
Apparently the news surprised him. I know that we both had phones and could just text but then we risked having him take away our phones, and the old fashioned way was just more fun!
Kylies phone went off, she picked it up. "Hi Benjie," she pause obviosly hearing what he was saying. "Okay I will be home in a minute," Kylie said as she hung up. I have to go and I'm going to borrow this," she said holding up and old Taylor Swift CD.
"Yeah sure, have fun," I said as I turned and waved goodbye.
A couple minutes after Kylie left I heard a knock on the front door.
"Claire could you get that honey?" it was a Sunday so Dylan and Charlie decided to go have a guy's day. How come I don't get a girl's day? I should bring that up at the next family meeting.
"Yes Mom," I said racing down the stairs. I was dressed and looked fairly decent if I do say so myself. I approached the door and opened it already knowing who would be on the other side.
"Trick or treat," a cute little Brody said looking up at me. I smiled. I couldn't help it he was adorable.
"Halloween isn't until tomorrow night," I said swooping him up into my arms, and then setting him back down as he giggled. It's been a couple days since Brody, Lucas, and Alice all showed up and we had our initial water fight. Now we had all seemed to hang out every evening and against all of my instincts I was starting to love it in this small town, and I hope that I would be able to continue to love it for a long time.
"I know, but, I dropped by to ask if you want to come trick or treating with Lucas and I?" That little boy sure didn't act like one. He was so sophisticated, much more sophisticated than I was at his age, at least. If I were him I would have crossed my arms and pouted at someone who told me something like I said. Yeah, I was one of those kids, I am not saying I am proud of it but it's the truth. He sort of reminds me of Charlie when he was younger, focus Claire you need to answer a question.
"I would love to," I said honestly. It felt so good to genuinely smile. It used to be a rare occurrence but with Lucas and Brody just next door it seemed to be happening more and more often. I apparently am not the only one who notices either, I have been complemented many times. And yes compliments from Brody count!
"Thanks Claire," he said with his little dimples showing up. "One more thing," Brody said and I just nodded eyes fixed on him.
"Do you want to help us put up some Halloween decorations?" Body's lips didn't even move. Then again it wasn't his voice I heard. My eyes lifted and couldn't help scan his broad shoulders and well defined stomach on the way up to his eyes. Stop judging me it's not my fault he wore a shirt that showed him off so well!
