Chapter 14
"Strike!" Tara exclaimed jumping up and down. We were in the 'staff room' of Shawn and Jordan's cafe. It had been transformed into a games room of sorts.
There was foosball, a basket ball net and Tara's favorite the Wii. Tara, Kylie Alice and I were currently all sitting on couch as we waited for our turn to bowl on the Wii.
"Show off," Alice mumbled as she stood up to take her turn. She swung her arm violently and then covered her eyes not wanting to see how she did.
"Oh my God! Alice you got a strike!" Kylie said patting Alice on the back. Alice's hands immediately dropped from her face as she looked to the screen for clarification. Her face lit up like a kid on Christmas who just found out they didn't get coal.
"I got a stri-ike, I got a stri-ike," Alice sang she sat down. She did an awkward victory dance but I admit hers was better than mine.
"Goodness Ali did no one teach you how to be humble?" Tara said annoyed. We all burst out laughing. I got up for my turn and some how managed to hit a gutter ball every time. I think Tara rigged the game.
"I won!" Tara exclaimed as we finished the game. I think it was an unfair advantage considering she played all the time and the rest of us had lives. Ok I am a sore loser, whatever. But seriously next time I am making her play with her right hand, because she is left handed.
"Congrats but I gotta get going," I said as I stood up. I wasn't lying, I promised my parents I would be home by 5:00 so this would leave me a half an hour to walk home as it was currently 4:30.
"By dear thanks for stopping by," Jordan said giving me a hug. Shawn and the girls all waved at me.
I bid my goodbyes and then left.
"Bye, sleepover tomorrow remember!" Tara called after me. As If I could forget Kylie dropped by and asked my parents for me this morning.
"Yeah I will be there," I called back before I turned the corner walking down a narrow road. Something seemed off about the street. Darker almost. I dismissed it to the fact that before the Wii game Tara had somehow managed to talk us into a horror movie. We made through the first 40 minutes before Kylie shut it off. It wasn't even that she was scared, but Alice's screaming was making us all go slightly deaf.
I heard breathing behind me. And it wasn't right behind me but I decided that up at the end of this road I would turn around and head the long way home. Although I was probably being paranoid I doubted that it was actually anything.
I was three quarters down the street when I heard three heavy foot steps behind me. I sped my pace, and I heard the footstep's speed increase behind me. I started to run. I knew I should turn around and look but I couldn't handle the thought of seeing something a didn't want to see. A part of me had my fingers crossed that it was just normal people and I was hearing things.
A hand was suddenly resting on my shoulder, obviously I handn't crossed enough fingers. I prayed I would turn around to find my friends or Lucas or even my brothers. I slowed my breathing and then calmly turned around.
Three faces I had never seen before faced me. Their faces were dirty and it only made them more intimidating. I turned and sprinted faster than I ever had before.
Apparently I was not as fit as I thought I was as in seconds they had cornered me. They dragged me down an alleyway and I was panicking. What were they going to do with me? Did I want to know.
There were three of them. Big dirt beefy looking men who scared the craps out of me.
"So Claire where's your boyfriend?" They asked me. At first I was frightened that they knew my name. Then I put two and two together they weren't after me they were after Lucas.
