Chapter 23
Previously:
"How long was I asleep for?" I asked her glancing at the clock but I couldn't make out the time from across the dimly lit room.
"An hour, ever since I told you about my break up and you went all therapisty on me," she said. So it wasn't real? my heart fell.
"Is everything okay?" Alice asked me.
"Peachy," I said as we grabbed out coats and rushed out to watch the fire works. They were great but I watched Lucas more than the fireworks as I thought about the dream over and over again.
We then all picked up our presents and headed home.
I actually woke up early today.
I guess you do that when you are limited to less than 24 hours.
Christmas had been a somber occasion on the 25th. Dylan had spent all his time since Christmas eve with Kylie. I heard their giggles around the house and saw them as they ran off down the driveway off to god knows where together. Meanwhile I found myself looking out my bedroom window at the quiet house beside me.
"Goodmorning!" Alice yelled jumping on the bed next to me. Apparently I hadn't been the only one to wake up early today.
"What are you doing here?" I asked her as I glanced around the room to make sure Tara wasn't somewhere waiting to jump out and scare me.
"Well I don't have a 'Dylan' to run off and spend every second of the day with... so here I am, lets get you ready," Alice said getting up and going through my drawers only to find them empty.
"The boxes to your left," I said knowing she was looking for my clothes.
"Already packed? I thought you were going on strike!" Alice said referring to one of the many plans Tara had planed out.
"My mom said that if I didn't pack them she would burn them, then she pulled out a match and so I started packing," I said as I slowly climbed out of bed.
"Why do I need to get dressed this early?" I asked Alice quickly.
"We are throwing you a surprise going away party... surprise!" she said as she threw a pair of jeans, a shirt and a hoodie at me.
"Umm... Thanks?" I said as I picked up the clothes and walked down the hall to the bathroom.
"Welcome."
"Where is it going to be, exactly," I asked as I shut the door behind me locking Alice out so that I could get changed.
"Downstairs in your family room," Alice said. I had no idea how she had convinced my parents to throw a going away party but I wasn't going to question it.
"When dose it start?" I asked as I headed downstairs to the family room.
"Noon so we have 5 hours to kill," Alice said as she led me out the door.
"What are we going to do with 5 hours?" I asked her as she pulled me into her car and she quickly sat in the drivers seat.
"It's a surprise!" she said. She then blasted Say You Like Me and we were off on our journey to Wonderland.
