Chapter 5
I looked at my phone that had been sitting on my bedside table. Saturday, do you know what that means? It means that I can sleep in! My first week went well, in my opinion it did. I am pretty sure I am getting on Alice's nerves a little bit though.
It turns out Kylie and I both hate mornings. Plus Tara got me addicted to coffee. Damn that stuff is good. Why didn't I ever try it sooner? Kylie and I also both love reading and Tara and I both have a strong sweet tooth. Alice tries to get along with me, she sits on the ground with me every morning at the bus stop. She jokes with me sometimes too. There is just an edge to her voice that lets me know that she and I aren't exactly besties...
I was going to fix that though. Just because we hadn't clicked yet I was sure that we would.
"Hello Claire," I heard Brody's cute little voice call up to me as he wrapped himself around leg. He was definitely more likable than Kyle was. He was changing my views on little kids slowly. Then I noticed how early it was in the morning. What was he doing here?
"Hey there little guy," I said as I smiled a smile too big for me to contain. Something about Brody made it impossible for me to not be 'smiley' as I so put it earlier. I set my plate down and lowered myself to his height and looked at him. I didn't like looking down at him it felt strange.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him. "We were invited here by your mom," a voice that wasn't Body's said. I looked up to see Lucas looking down at me, a smirk plastered on his annoying face. Okay maybe I wanted it to be annoying, but who was I kidding? Okay my thoughts are starting to annoy me; there is defiantly a problem here!
"Oh, hi," I said trying to smooth out my old comfy pink pajamas as I stood up. Who was I kidding there was no way for me to make this look decent. Surprisingly he pulled out a chair and gestured for me to take a seat. I sat down and then he sat across from me. It wasn't until now that I heard the voices of my family in the family room and noticed how unusually empty it was in here. Well Lucas was quite the gentleman, at least at the moment he was I would give him that but I would find my third strike.
"I see you have decided to have a meel at my place this time," I commented. My mom had cooked my favorite breakfast and I had to admit a part of me was struggling to not just dig in, the other half of me said that I shouldn't be rude though.
"I figured you owed me so I might as well," he shrugged. "You don't like waking up early do you?" Lucas asked glancing at the clock on the stove. Okay fine yes it was 11:00am but it was Saturday and my blankets enjoy my company so leving them would be rude.
"Not really. You don't seem to share my problem," I said as I looked up at him. I was currently eating scrambled eggs.
"The sausage was my favorite so if you don't want it I will eat it for you," Lucas said smiling at me. As if I would share my favorite breakfast food.
"Don't waste your time, it's her favorite as well, and she usually steals some of mine just so she can have more," Charlie said from the doorway. It was true, I wouldn't lie. At least, not to myself. My mom only made enough breakfast for just enough never extra so I take some of Charlie's. Well if I was up early enough I would.
"Can I have some?" Brody asked me pushing a chair up next to me and sitting next to me. I couldn't help it he was just too cute. I cut a little piece and handed it to him. He smiled as he poped it into his mouth. "Thank you Claire," Brody said. I smiled he was definitely much better than Kyle.
"Well you have to give me a piece too then," Lucas said so I cut another small piece and he snatched it right off of my plate and threw it into his mouth.
