Chapter 13
I woke up and at first, I was stunned by the cold. Why was it so cold, you ask? That answer was simpler than one would think. I was outside. I don't know how Lydia had survived in the second season running around naked I was freezing and I had 7 blankets a sweater and two layers of pants on, it was calling for snow any day now.
Brody had convinced Lucas and I to camp out with him on his last night, and so all three of us now found ourselves tucked under 7 layers of blankets. I think my mom thinks I am insane. It is sort of late fall, so yeah I wasn't thrilled that I was here, but it was Brody's leaving wish and I couldn't deny him that!
I turned over trying to squint through the bright morning light, when I noticed that the other two people who should have been here weren't. I quickly got up and rushed to the back door of the Summers' house, in my plaid pajamas.
You wouldn't believe my surprise when I was met with the tone def voice; of my boyfriend as he struggled to keep up with the toon of Stay Stay Stay by Taylor Swift.
"I'm pretty sure we almost broke up last night, I threw my phone across the room, at you, I was exspecting some dramatic turn away, but yo-o-ou stayed," he sang and I laughed in the doorway as I watched the Bad Boy sing a song so out of character. I remeber Brody had mentioned that Lucas sang around the house but I had never witnessed it before.
He turned towards me his eyes wide. He obviously hadn't expected me to walk in. Let alone catch him in the act.
"Hey Taylor Swift," I teased him as he just put a plate down for me shaking his head at me. I just continued to smile at him choking back my laugh.
"Now, now, is that anyway to speak to someone who just made you breakfast?" He asked me I could tell he was joking but I no longer cared after I heard the word breakfast. I noticed it wasn't cereal either. It was scrambled eggs with the sausages I said I liked and toast.
"Here you go," he said pulling out a chair for me. I smiled.
"Thank you, who knew you were such a gentleman," I teased him. His lips turned down slightly. I nudged him so that he knew that I was joking, then he smiled at me.
"How are you not cold?" I asked still slightly shivering from outside.
"I woke up an hour ago, and have been enjoying the heat," he said as he took my hands between his in an attempt to warm them quicker.
"Wow, this is amazing," I said as I tried the food he had cooked. Lucas pulled out a chair and quickly sat down.
"Well thank you," he said as he tucked his chair in and grabbed a plate for himself.
"Brody, breakfast is ready," Lucas hollered and I could hear Brody's little feet as he raced down the stairs. He had a toy car in his hand and was running it over every possible flat surface, as he made 'vrrrroooooom' sound affects.
"Good morning Claire!" Brody said cheerfully as he sat down next to Lucas.
"Goodmorning Brody," I said back equally cheerful. It would be hard to watch him go but I could get over it. There were so many things going on right now, that the whole notion of Brody leaving hadn't even hit me yet and he was leaving in an hour!
"Claire do you promise to call me when I am gone?" Brody asked me as he started to eat his breakfast.
"Of course! And e-mail, and Skype," I said and he smiled as he chewed his food. I was being honest although Brody would no longer live next door I didn't want to stop talking to him. He had become like a brother to me, and right now he was the only one not dealing drugs so I think it would be safe to say he is my favorite at the moment.
