This was requested for the lovely book Battleships by Kewtgrande, and then there's my ugly and quickly done spin of the edit I did myself. Ignore how bad mine looks, but yours will be much better I promise you that.
Superimpose
i. Open a white background with the crop size 2:3 and then your first image as the foreground. Merge the image where you'd like it to be on the cover (I recommend to make it cover half of the cover). Open your next image as the foreground and place it as desired and merge again.
ii. Get the color you'd like to use and put it as the foreground. Center it on the cover as desired and then select the gradient tool under the mask tab. See photo below. (Don't think you have to place this in the middle; you could even put one photo on the bottom of the cover and have the color gradient going to it above it. Play around with it!)

iii. Use the gradient tool to erase some of the colored image over the photos. Make sure you don't leave any white showing.

iv. If there's some of the colored image on the photo that bothers you, then just use the soft brush as pictured below and brush away some of that. It helps to have the settings that I have on mine (turn the softness all the way up) Save and then add your title and you're done!

Sadly, I don't think there's a way to do this on Pics Art. Guys seriously though; if you don't have Superimpose by now, get it. This app saved my life no lie.
