Okay, so when I make templates, there's multiple ways you can do it. I'll be showing you two ways that I make mine, so here's the first one.
Let's say you're on instagram and you find a cool looking edit and want to use it for something. Pretend that edit being the one below.
Superimpose
i. Open the image as the background and then grab a color that you need to fill in. I usually select the same image and zoom in really small as you can see below in the first image to get the same color (or you can use your own colors). After you do this, use the rectangle crop to crop it to the template. Merge and repeat this for all of the other spots that need covered.
ii. For the spots that I want to add an image, I usually use a black image to mask over it. For the middle part for this template, I inserted a black image and cropped it over Oakly.
iii. Now to add in your own image, just open it as the foreground and put it on multiply and use the rectangle crop to fit it as desired. Add other stuff as desired as well and then you're done!
