Status

Prologue

Status. It could mean different things. It could be the position of a person in relation to other people. Kung ano ka sa buhay ng isang tao – magkaibigan ba kayo, bestfriends, more than friends or it's complicated. It could refer to a person's status in a society or community – kung popular ka ba o isang ordinaryong tao, kung leader ka ba o follower. Pero para sa akin ang 'status' ay kung saan ko nakita ang ultimate crush ko na pinapangarap kong maging forever ko. Okay, sige, medyo OA na. Sige, hanggang ultimate crush na lang muna.

I'm in my sophomore year in college now and I have been crushing on a certain boy since I was in high school na nakita ko sa FB timeline ng Tita Faye ko. RJ Ocampo. That's the name of the cutest boy I've ever seen. He's the son of one of my Tita Faye's friends. At simula nang makita ko s'ya sa Facebook ay palagi na akong sumisilip sa account ng mommy n'ya para makita ko s'ya. And mind you, he's not just a pretty face. Matalino din s'ya kasi he graduated Salutatorian nung high school at member ng Honors' Society in college. Lahat ng accomplishments n'ya ay pinopost ng mommy n'ya for me... ah este for everyone to see kaya updated ako tungkol sa kanya.

We actually go to the same university. I've seen him around but of course he doesn't see me. When I was in first year and he was in second year I found out that he already has a girlfriend. I wonder why his mom didn't post it on Facebook? Ha... ha... ha! Anyway, when I found out about it I felt heartbroken pero agad ko namang tinanggap kasi isa lang naman akong ilusyonada di ba? He doesn't even know me. Kahit maglupasay ako sa sama ng loob ay hindi naman n'ya mapapansin. But by the end of that school year nalaman ko ring they broke up. I secretly rejoiced. Alam ko ilusyonada pa rin ako at isang malaking kasiraan ng ulo ang pagsasaya ko sa kanilang break-up pero it can't be helped. Kahit na alam kong napakaliit ng chance na makilala n'ya ako ay nagkaroon pa rin ako ng hope. Hope? Hope for what? Ewan ko. Basta ang alam ko nagkaroon ako ng pag-asa.

Masama ba 'yun? Masama bang umasa sa isang medyo imposibleng bagay? Sabi nila when you dream, dream big... reach for the stars.

Kaya 'eto ako, si Camille Dawn Santos, dreaming of having someone whom I can only love from afar because of the huge gap between us. Status. Our status will always keep us apart.
