He was old fashioned, but I didn't mind. Honestly, the more old-fashioned, the braver he was. I took a deep breath. "Gerard, you're a really nice guy and I give you a lot of credit for finding the courage to ask me. But, I don't want to lie to you and say I share the same feelings as you, because I don't."
His head hung in humility. I immediately felt sorry.
"Don't be like that," I said quickly. "There are plenty of other girls that are hungry for you. I hear them always talk about you and if you don't like them back, well, if you find the effort, then you'll find the right person for you." What I said was true, Gerard was ranked as one of the hottest guys in this school according to the girls.
"Really?"
"Yeah, do you want me to introduce you to them?"
"Nah, it's fine." He was smiling now and I felt one hundred times better.
"I hope this won't ruin our friendship."
"It won't. We'll stay friends, right?" He held his hand out, our team handshake.
I grinned, slapping my hand into his. "Of course. I'll see you later."
"Yeah."
I went to Liam's car and climbed in. He started the car and began driving, oddly quiet. I could hear his heartbeat and it was beating pretty fast.
"So, you said 'yes'?"
"Liam, if you were going to eavesdrop, you should've listened to the whole conversation."
He continued driving, glaring at the road. "Looks like winning your heart has a lot of competition."
"That's only one guy. And for all I know, you probably have other girls drooling over you."
"I mean, first it's Leo, maybe someone after him, and now you want to get with Gerard."
I looked at him incredulously. "Are you calling me a slut?"
"Maybe I worded it wrong-"
"Yeah, you did. I don't even know what's going on with you. You somehow know everything about me because you pried into my life while I know absolutely nothing about you. I don't even know your favorite color and now you think you have the right to be mad that this guy asked me out. You know what, I think you're mad because he likes me. Because he doesn't like you."
"Are you saying I'm gay?" He scoffed.
"Yeah, problem?"
"I am not gay, Laina. And my favorite color is black. Let's just stop fighting."
Now it was my turn to get mad. "You're impossible. Are you freaking bipolar or something? You're the one that started it and now you want to make peace. Well, guess what, you made me mad and I want anything but peace. Actually, stop the car. Just send me what I need to do and I'll do it. I'm going home."
"Laina, calm down."
"Stop the damn car or I will actually jump out," I said, my hand on the door.
"Laina, you-"
I opened the door and he quickly pulled over before I jumped out. I stepped out as he climbed out the other side. "I don't want to deal with your petty jealousy. If you really like Gerard that much, then I'll set you two up, okay? You don't need to take your anger out on me because that isn't fair to me and that's not what friends do."
"Okay, fine!" He exclaimed as I grabbed my stuff from the back. "I'm jealous."
"Exactly! You don't have to hide that you're freaking gay, nobody is going to tie you to a damn mast and burn you alive," I snapped, slamming the door so hard that the car itself jumped. "You can even join the LGBTQ club at our school, I've never been there, so don't ask me any question. Maybe you'll gain some freaking experience there and you won't be yelling at me the next time you want to talk." I walked away from the car. "I was actually having a decent day despite what happened a few days ago and you want to ruin it with your issues as if that's my problem. Why don't you go to a damn therapist because I am not certified to be one for you!"
"Laina," he said, coming after me. He tried to grab the bag in my hand but I pulled away from him angrily.
"No, I'm not going to deal with your BS, maybe Tessa and Ronnie will. Go tell them everything that happened because I honestly don't care. If you're still insecure about yourself them make some damn lie about why I didn't come because I'm not going to make one for you."
"I'm not jealous because he doesn't like me!" He yelled, running in front of me and stopping me. He grabbed my shoulders. "I'm jealous because he likes you!"
I pushed his hands off me and walked around him. "You're saying the same exact thing."
He grabbed my bag, yanking it out of grasp. I glared at him. "I'm jealous because I like you too!" He shouted frustratedly.
"Really?" I snapped stubbornly. "Do you like me for me or do you like me because you think I have a pretty face? You said you missed me when you were drunk but you also said I was the prettiest girl you've ever seen."
"You're...You're twisting my words! You've been twisting my words this whole time!"
"Because you're being difficult!"
He threw my bag down. "You want me to make it clear? Fine! I like you because of your...everything! Because of everything!"
"You're very bad at making things clear."
"You know what I think? I think you want me to make it clear so that you'll truly know how I feel because you like me too! You're just too afraid to ask me how I feel! Why don't you tell me how you feel? Then maybe I'll say how I feel."
"Think what you want to think, for now, I can care less," I said, grabbing my bag and walking away, fuming.
"Laina!" He called, grabbing my wrist. I turned around as I threw his hand away.
"What do you want?!" I screamed.
Before I knew it, his hands were on my face and his lips were on top of mine. My bag fell to the ground from my surprise and I was frozen. His body was so close to mine and his hands fit around my jaw perfectly, the side of his hand rested on my shoulders heavily. I couldn't help but compare how we were like two puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly. He stayed there for another few seconds, letting me feel the softness of his lips.
He let me go as I suddenly realized that I was still mad at him. I pushed him away. "That proves nothing!" I said. "You-"
He pulled me in again and again I felt those addicting lips on mine. Then I realized that he was trying to use this kiss to make me confess and I quickly began trying to push him off. But he pulled his arms around me, trapping me as he moved his pure lips against mine, his breath smelling like mint leaves. Then I gave up after a while, intoxicated by him and I let him kiss me, closing my eyes.
He parted from me, letting me catch my breath. "Do you want me to drive you home?" He asked casually.
"No." I grabbed my bag and left.
I'm really sorry, guys, if this book is becoming to get boring. I really am trying my hardest!
