I woke up and it was 10:00 P.M., I patted around for my phone and realized that I didn't have it. Promising myself I'd find it in the morning, I tried to go back to sleep.

However, after trying to sleep for two more hours, I was still wide awake and I decided to get out and try looking for it. Not knowing how long that would take, I got up and got ready like any regular morning. Then I searched my room to no avail. I searched the living room and didn't find it, instead, I found a key tucked under the couch. I looked at it, why was this here?

I put it in my pocket and grabbed the car keys. After pulling on a hoodie, I went outside to the chilly wind. I opened the car and searched inside the console storage. I did find it in there, however, I found something else. It was a small compartment to the side of the console. Curiosity conquered me and I opened it to find a shotgun.

I gasped, pulling it out and holding it up with only two fingers as if it had a disease on it. My eyes were as wide as saucers. "What in the world?"

I quickly looked around the streets to see if anyone was looking, then I quickly put it back and closed it. I'll ask mom about it later, right now it was cold and I wanted to go back inside.

I locked the car and ran back inside, locking the door. I decided to maybe watch a bit of TV with a blanket and a cup of hot water. I was too lazy to go upstairs, so I went around the first floor, opening closets for a blanket.

I came to this one door which I had never noticed before. I had seen it before, I just never paid attention to it. I tried opening it but it was locked. Then, I remembered the key. It was a low possibility that the key would be the right one, but it didn't hurt to try. Why would this door be locked anyway? Maybe there was important stuff, like birth certificates and security numbers.

I inserted the key and turned it, gasping as the door clicked unlocked, excitement filling me. I opened it to find darkness. I reached next to the door inside the closet and found a switch.

When I switched it on, I realized that this was not a closet at all. "Oh my gosh..."

Inside was a gigantic room full of weapons. Bombs, guns, knives, and more all lined up against the wall neatly. How did it get here? Why was it here? Why had I never known about this? Questions filled my head rapidly as I walked into the room.

"Laina?"

I turned to find my mother standing by the door. "Mom."

"What are you doing?"

"Mom, what is all this?"

"Laina, I don't think I told you that you were allowed down here."

"You're right, you never even told me about this place."

"Laina, come back out."

"No, mom, what is going on?" I walked further into the room and found gigantic machine guns, I quickly backed away. "I find a shotgun in your car and now this?"

"How did you get in here?" She came into the room with me.

I held up the key. "Found this under the couch, and something tells me that it wasn't there by accident. Why have I never known about this place? Why is it here? How did it get here? Did you buy this stuff?!"

She tried snatching the key from me but I put it back in my pocket. "Are you keeping something from me?" I asked.

"Laina, listen to me. Sometimes, it's better not to ask questions."

"You can't just-" My phone rang. It was Ronnie, I answered it reluctantly. "Yes?"

"It's Liam," Ronnie said, his voice sounding rushed and urgent. "He needs help at his house, now! Tess and I are going there right now."

"What's going on?"

"The Executors are there."

"I'll see you guys there." I turned to my mom as I hung up. "I need you to drive me to Liam's house. Now! It's important!"

I must've seemed angry because she immediately ran out and I followed her, or she was just happy I was focused on something else and not prying her with questions. We both jumped into the car and she drove me there. "Faster!" I cried.

"What's going on?" She asked as she pulled up in front of his house.

"Mom, just drive back home. I'll be back." I quickly ran past the gate as my mom drove away. I quickly hid under the window sill, peeking up at it. Inside were four men dressed in black with big guns and a woman with a mask. The men were standing around Liam's family, guarding them.

Liam's whole family was sitting on the ground. I gasped when I saw Liam. His face was beaten up and he was holding onto his stomach, they must have kicked him very hard. He was healing, but slowly. His mother was holding on to him while crying. His dad had an unemotional face on but I could see the fear and anger in his eyes. His uncle just had pure rage written on his face.

The woman was speaking to them but I couldn't hear what they were saying even while using my superhearing. Then I saw a machine sitting on the window sill that was blinking. That must be blocking my hearing.

I didn't know what to do. I couldn't take down four strong men that were heavily armed down, that was just suicide. The most I could do was distract them. The woman would most likely only send two guards to chase me. I could most likely win the fight without getting too hurt.

But I wasn't sure.
