My panther tattoo was red and swollen from me trying to wipe and scratch it off. My eyes were dry from shedding tears of frustration, confusion, and fear. When I ran away from Liam, I went to my house and immediately bolted to the bathroom, sat on the toilet and cried.
Ronnie, Liam and Tessa had been trying to contact me since yesterday. I didn't go to school today, I didn't want to see them, to talk to them.
Truthfully, I was scared. Terrified. Every time I thought about what happened, my hands immediately started shaking.
They were... Supernatural. I just learned that Ronnie and Liam are wolves. Not werewolves. Wolves. Just wolves. They could turn into wolves too and just roam around.
Tessa was a fox. Her eyes glow orange but she didn't have fangs. But she had a really high agility. She could hear the quietest things, like a pin dropping. Her claws were sharper than the boys' and she could turn into a Red Fox.
They've been pestering me about it on iMessages, sending me photos of their tattoos to say that I wasn't the only one- that I shouldn't be nervous, I shouldn't be afraid. I just didn't want it. I wanted a simple life, I was desperate for a peaceful life. I would do anything to be a normal girl.
I didn't even know what powers I had! My eyes glowed an emerald green color, like a panther's eyes. I had claws, but I usually tried to keep them away, since I didn't really like them. I had supernatural healing, all four of us did. I also could hear quiet things now, which was also a negative thing. Everything was ten times louder, my mother slamming doors were like bombs going off right next to me. It left my ears ringing and my head spinning. I could hear the clock ticking downstairs and it distracted me.
My phone rang and I winced, touching my ear. I picked it up as quickly as possible. It was a message from Liam. I didn't ignore it but I didn't answer.
Laina! Answer me! He wrote.
I didn't answer back.
Laina, I know ur there.
I sighed and texted back. What?
We need to talk. Me, you, Ron and Tess. Why not now? We'll have to talk about it sooner or later.
I knew it was true. I couldn't avoid it forever. It could come back to bite me later in the future. Maybe they could even find a way for me to reverse the process. Fine. Get to my house now.
Ok. Bye!
I threw the phone down onto my bed. I lifted my shirt up in front of the mirror to look at it again. Although I didn't want it, I had to say, the design was pretty.
After a few minutes, the doorbell rang, making me cringe in pain. I walked downstairs and opened the door. Liam stood there with Tessa. I quickly let them in and quickly closed the door. "Ronnie had to stop by his house because he forgot his phone-" Tessa began.
"You have to tell me a way to stop...this! Whatever is happening to me!" I exclaimed, grabbing their arms.
They both looked at each other and then at me. "Laina," Tessa said gently. "There isn't a way to stop it."
I looked at her. "There has to be!"
Liam grabbed my elbows. "Laina, look. There is nothing in the world that can stop this. The only thing you can do is keep it under control. And me, Ronnie and Tess can help with that."
I shook my head as tears started streaming down my face. "No, no, no! Find a way. I don't know what happened, I just want this to all go away. I don't want it. Take it away, please!"
