(Maia's Perspective)
Carols of angry shouts sang through the air and filled my ears to the point where I couldn't even hear my own friends shouting at me and Aurora. I was frozen in time, so many thoughts had rushed to my mind I had to process it more slowly and clearly. She betrayed me. Back stabbed me. She hadn't cared, she probably never cared. Probably thought of all those times she saved me was a waste of her time and effort. I thought I could trust her, I thought that there would be a time where she or I would risk our lives for each other. She wasn't just a friend, she was like a mother to me. Except all the mothers I had, seemed to turn out for the worst.
Katherine was a liar, and just before she was killed she told me the whole truth. She told me everything that she had me believe were lies. Myria was my real mother. She never loved me, I even bet I was an accident. I knew she loved Morren but when Morren lost Katherine, he lost it and destroyed their relationship. Aurora, she was another mom. Was. Maybe she was just like Katherine, but instead of facing death she faced that fact that she was now Counsellor.
She could do whatever she wanted. Whatever she felt like. I almost thought I could love her like a mother, and I always thought she would be there for me in every way possible.
I was oblivious.
"You will not take Maia away!" Amy's words of anger snapped me out of my little daze I seem to be constantly falling into at times like these. "I am not taking her away, I'm just sending her into the Dark Forest's prison. At any time you can visit her." Aurora informed them surprisingly calming. "We won't be visiting her." Mason snapped, his icy blue eyes holding as much fury in them as Madison's. "That's not my problem." Aurora smiled, taking my arm roughly. "No, it is your problem. We won't be visiting her because she won't be leaving for the prison." Jackson glared at her, remaining at Amy's side. "She will be. And nothing will change my mind." Aurora said shortly and quickly, taking my other arm and bringing it behind my back, along with the other one.
"What if we gave you an offer?" Madison suggested, and I swear I thought her usual sharp, dangerous icy blue eyes had a gleam of hope for a split second. "Are you really bribing your Counsellor?" Aurora raised her brow and chuckled. "LISTEN HERE AND LISTEN GOOD," Bella's boom of anger shocked all of us around her. "THERE IS A TIME AND A PLACE WHERE SOMEONE CROSSES THE LINE. YOU'VE JUST CROSSED IT. YOU ARE NOT TAKING MAIA AWAY BECAUSE I'LL BEAT THE LIVING OUT OF YOU IF YOU DARE TOUCH HER ONCE MORE." Bella breathed, but had been pulled away by Mason but only seconds later she returned.
"YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE IN CONTROL, YOU'RE USING ALL OF THIS POWER FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT" Bella snapped, until Imogen came to Aurora's side. "Problem, ladies?" She spoke slowly, like she was trying to turn her silver orbs into Medusa's eyes. "Go to hell, Bella." Aurora spoke quietly. "After you." Bella smirked, only to have her arm grasped by Mason. He whispered something meaningful into her ear because of course it seemed like he had changed her mind, only to leave with her hand in hand. "Poor girl, she has grown quite a mouth of her. It'll do her no good with me in charge." Imogen spoke quietly, but still loud enough for Madison and I to hear.
"You mean me that's in charge?" Aurora muttered, lowering her voice clearly hoping I wouldn't hear. Sneaky mutt. "Yes, that's clearly what I said. Was it not?" Imogen snapped, I could basically feel her silver orbs burning in my skin. "Mementote sermonis mei quem ego dixi ulla meo." She whispered, but since Aurora's head was to close to mine, I could every word clearly. Even though I had no idea in the world what she was speaking.
It seemed like Imogen wasn't speaking a lie. She has actually been in charge for a short moment just as Aurora was being made Counsellor. Everything seemed so clear now. Of course I had to only be foolish to not have guessed this earlier. "This is a lie, watch Imogen with Aurora. See who is truly making the decisions." I mouthed to Jackson, Madison and Amy. They all nodded, and all held the same exact expression; concern. "You'll get out, I promise you that Maia." Jackson called after me once the chains at already tied my wrists together. Forcing one over another so that I couldn't move them in any way. I nodded shortly and with that, I trailed along the gravel pathways and the stone roads, followed by Aurora and flanked with guards.
