(Maia's perspective)

Insults ripped through my ears as I walked down the hallway. Back at my school, where no one would hesitate to torment me. I lost everything, my mother and my father. He never came back. So now, I was living on my own back in my old home. The insults haven't stopped today. No friends to back me up. Because like I said, I lost everything and everyone.

Bella.

Amy.

Jake.

Ryan.

Mason.

Madison.

Icas.

Katherine.

Everyone meaning everyone I truly loved with all my heart.

"Maia!" Madison snapped her fingers repeatedly in my face. I know I zoned out, I've been doing the frequently. I gave her the same blank as I gave her when I was day dreaming. "Cut the act sweet heart, we're almost done for the day." She rolled her eyes, walking upstairs again. It's been exactly four days since Ryan's disappeared. All of us have been taking turns of searching for him, then helping the city come back to life. I had searched for Ryan, despite my anger towards him. I still wanted him back home and safe. Mason, Bella and Jackson were out searching for him. While Amy was upstairs working now with Madison. I sighed and pushed the last pieces of wood onto the street. I blocked the sun from hitting my eyes with my hand as I watched guards driving down in trucks, picking up the wood that fell from the buildings.

Luckily the one we were on wasn't burned to the ground, so it was much easier to work on it. The streets had be cleaned before the buildings, and only a few have been brought back to life. But those are the ones that hadn't been destroyed by fire. Or explosions. Hint, Madison. I sighed and walked back into the building, the door was already ripped from the wall. I walked upstairs and looked around the room. The roof was gone, and the walls were slightly ripped apart. Madison threw wood out a broken window, while Amy kicked wood over to her and swept the floor. "Is the bottom floor clean?" Amy asked, causing me to nod. This was the last day for the guards to pick up any wood that was burnt, or old and useless. Madison, Amy and I have cleaned out about three houses and one store.

"Come on, I bet Mason and them are back." I muttered, shoving my hands into my pockets. "I hope they came back with information." Amy sighed, leaning her broom leaning against the wall. Madison and I nod in agreement, as we all step out down the stairs and out of the building. I narrow my eyes at the people helping out in every store, and home. I looked down at two toddlers playing with a flower that seemed to have survived the fire. I looked back up and walked behind Madison and Amy as they spoke quietly. And finally I noticed we were heading into the Counsellor's house. Well, it used to be the Counsellor's house. Now that all of them are dead. Aurora had been kind enough to let us stay here, and not on the streets where most of the poor people stayed. I couldn't blame them.

These people lost everything. Their homes, food, and possibly even loved ones. I shared the outcomes with every victim in Irenic. I lost Magnolia, and Ryan. No matter how much I am ashamed of respecting my true thoughts about him, I truly cared about his safety. And it was a concern to me if his safety was in danger, and at this very moment, it could be. What baffled me most was that I was safe, and sound walking into a safe environment with my friends, where he could be suffering any kinds of pain. I wouldn't know. No one would know.

I followed Madison and Amy through the thick doors, brushing my way past them to search for the muffled voices hidden inside the walls. Each of these rooms inside the house shared secrets, and each room had a purpose. I had come to a sharp halt, walking past the doors too quickly and hadn't realized the voices were coming from the left door behind me. I narrowed my eyes at Madison who suspiciously stared at the door, and before I nor Amy could say anything, she kicked open the french doors with such force. I gasped along with many others, surprised by Madison's sudden strength. "Who dare interrupt this important piece of matter?" A woman inside the room hissed with rage, a voice I did not recognize. "Who are you?" Madison said with the equal amount of rage, and stepped inside the room. I shared a look with Amy. She was worried, but I was not. I couldn't worry for something I couldn't control.
