"Your first day and you're already getting in fights!? And you Emily , you're a straight a student what are you doing caught up in a mess like this?" Our principal Mr. Jay asked. He wore a frown on his face and was really pissed.

Josh walked into the office a moment after with a bandage on my nose and an ice pack from the nurse.

"Okay now that everyone's here I wanna know what happened. I really don't have time for this high school drama so you guys better have good excuses." Mr. Jay demanded. I knew my face was completely red, that's usually what happens when I get really nervous.

Mr. Jay looked at the three of us waiting for someone to speak up. I cleared my throat ready to speak but Luke beat me to it.

"Emily shouldn't be here. Josh and I were the ones doing the fighting Emily is innocent." Luke said in a really convincing voice. I rolled my eyes. I didn't need Luke to baby me and protect me from this. I am obviously the reason the whole thing happened so I should be here.

"Is this true Emily?" Mr. Jay asked. I could tell from his expression that if I agreed with what Luke said he would let me go. I looked over at Luke who slightly nodded his head signaling for me to agree. I then turned my attention back to Mr. Jay.

"That's not true, I'm the whole reason this fight broke out so I should be here. I may not have thrown the punch or been the one to get hit but I was involved." I said, making sure to avoid Luke's gaze. I knew he was upset that I didn't take the opportunity to leave but right now I couldn't care less.

"Okay then, Emily please tell me what happened." I took a deep breath before beginning the story. I started with Josh lying to get me out of class and the cafeteria scene he made last week. I told him a generic form of the words we exchanged and then told him about the punch. I said how our teacher walked in and how it all led to this moment. Mr. Jay just nodded in understanding throughout my story.

"So is all of this true?" Mr. Jay asked Luke and Josh.

"No that's a bunch of crap! Emily and I are in a serious relationship so obviously I'm not going to let some other guy get super close to her and definitely won't him kiss her." Josh yelled. I rolled my eyes in annoyance.

"That's not true, we broke up after you kissed that girl in he cafeteria and I've told you more times then I can count that we are over but you're delusional and refuse to believe. I want you to leave me and Luke alone." I said to Josh. Luke just chuckled which pissed me off. What was funny about this situation? Mr. Jay cleared his throat before continuing.

"Josh is it true you lied to the Secretary to get Emily out of class?" Mr. Jay asked as he scribbled down a few notes. Josh sighed as he put his head in his hands.

"Josh is this true?" Mr. Jay asked again

"Yeah but we really needed to work things out and she kept avoiding me, there was no other way." Josh said as if he was making any sense.

"She's avoiding you because you're a crazy stalker." Luke grumbled. Then Luke turned to me.

"You never told me he called you out of class!" Luke whisper shouted. I shook my head as I looked forward and ignored him. He sighed in frustration before looking away.

"Luke is it true you punched Josh." Mr. Jay asked. Luke just nodded his head yes, he didn't even try to defend his actions like Josh did. Mr. Jay jotted that note down before moving on the next question.

"So Emily, your roll in all of this was just the reason they were fighting? You werent actually taking a part in the fight?" Mr. Jay asked for clarification. I nodded my head.

"Alright here's what we're going to do. Josh you will leave Emily and Luke alone. Luke you will serve 2 weeks worth of detentions and Josh will serve one and a half weeks. Emily you will serve one lunch detention." Mr. Jay said. We all nodded our heads in agreement before he dismissed us.

Josh ran out of the office and Luke and I walked out. Luke was clearly frustrated as he repeatedly ran a hand through his hair. I rolled my eyes before walking ahead of Luke. It wasn't long before he caught up with me. He grabbed my arm and pulled me into a janitors closet with him. I sighed, of course he would force me to talk. I checked my phone to see we had ten minutes till class ended.

"Emily what the fuck was that!? I gave you a chance to leave and you made me look stupid. You didn't tell me about how crazy Josh really is and you obviously don't trust me so I need to know what is happening because I thought we were good." He said. I took a deep breath before biting my lip. I had to tell him how I really felt before I got more entangled in this lie of a relationship.

"You're right I don't trust you. I'm not stupid Luke, I know you're hiding something from me. There's no way you can switch personalities like that, that was way more then trying to be tough. I don't understand why you cant be honest with me. Also it really pisses me off that you think I'm some fragile thing that needs to be protected all the time. I can handle myself, I didn't need you to make excuses for me especially when I should of been in there. Maybe you see me as fragile because I first met you when I was broken and I cried on your shoulder and even told you how alone in this world I really am but I'm not always like that. I'm not a vulnerable person that needs your protection. I cant be in this relationship if you refuse to treat me normal and if you won't be honest about who you really are because I'm not taking your bullshit about me already knowing the truth." I said before moving him from in front of the door and storming out of the closet.

"Emily wait!" I heard him call after me but I kept going and didn't look back. My whole speech would of been a lot less dramatic and effective if I had waited around for his response.

I went back to class with three minutes left to spare. I was relieved when the bell rang and neither Josh or Luke had returned to class. Now all I have to do was avoid them the rest of the day.
