"What do you think?" Luke asked lacing our fingers together. I ran my hand along the porch banister of the house. It was a small suburban house with chipped paint and 2 bedrooms. It had tons of charm and was in a good neighborhood. I couldn't find any good reason to not love it.
"I hate it." I said turning to face him. Luke's smile fell off his face as he registered what I said. His expression was priceless. I couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Luke I'm kidding it's perfect." I laughed kissing him on the cheek. He hugged me.
"I hate when you do that." He chuckled.
"So you really love it?" He asked again with raised eyebrows. I nodded my head as I looked at the front of the two story house.
"Its perfect." I repeated as a smile stretched across my face.
"God you don't know how happy I am that you like it." He said smiling brightly. I was super happy too. It was within a reasonable distance from my college, it was near nice stores. The neighbors seemed nice and it wasn't at the top of our budget. It had room for us to start a family when we were ready to which was a major point on our wish list. I loved everything about it.
"It does need a paint job but we can fix that." I laughed looking up at him. He leaned down and kissed me hard as I looped my arms behind his neck.
It had been 5 months since senior graduation and we had been living at the gang cabin until we found a place. After missing the end of senior year I was forced to take summer school which I recently just finished. I hadn't talked to my parents since that night 6 months ago when I left.
I was sad that my parents hadn't tried to reach out to me but I honestly think I may be better off without them. They had never played a huge role in my life so not seeing them wasn't a huge change for me. I still loved them and it broke my heart to leave them but it's something that I needed to do. It was time for me to start my life with my true love.
Luke's phone suddenly rang and he pulled away from me.
"I'm sorry I gotta take this." He said kissing the top of my head before he walked a few feet away. I took this time to further look at the house, our house. I could definitely see us living here.
I could picture Luke getting the morning paper off the big porch and us having a water fight while washing the car in the driveway. I could see myself planting a garden and Luke cutting the grass. I saw us drinking coffee watching the sun rise from the front kitchen window.
This house was everything I think we needed and I was really excited for us to begin our life together.
"Okay I'm back." He said walking up beside me. I smiled as I tagged him.
"Tag you're it, the last one inside is a loser!" I said laughing as I sprinted up the steps. Luke began laughing as he chased me. He was laughing too hard to run at his full speed so I beat him inside.
I ran around the corner into the kitchen and hid behind the wall. I peaked around the corner to see if he was there but there was no sign of him.
"Got ya!" He whispered in my ear coming up behind me. I screamed as I jumped away from him. He was bent over clutching his stomach from laughing so hard. I hit him upside the head.
"You jerk I almost pissed my pants." I laughed. That just made him laugh harder. I rolled my eyes but I couldn't help but be ammused too.
"Emily you make me laugh more then anyone else."He admitted sobering up. I smiled at that as I leaned against the wall.
"Good because I'm a very funny person." I laughed. He stood up to his full height and looked deeply into my eyes as he brushed a stray hair behind my ear.
"You are so beautiful and the light of my life. I know we're young and stupid but I know you're the only person I will ever love this deeply. You're my everything and I would do anything for you. I want to be with you forever and I would be the happiest man alive if you would be my wife." He said dropping down to one knee. He pulled a ring box out of his pocket and opened it to reveal a beautiful diamond ring.
I covered my mouth in shock. Tears fell down my face as I looked from him to the ring. This was insane. I loved him but I never expected this. This was really fast but everything I wanted. I wanted to be with him always and forever too.
"Yes." I said as I wiped a few of my tears away. Luke's mouth fell open in shock.
"Did you say yes!?" He asked as a smile bloomed across his face. I nodded and laughed.
"Yes ya big dummy, I said yes." I smiled. He jumped up off his knee and picked me up and spun me around. I giggled. He was so crazy. He finally put me down and then kissed me deeply. It was the most passionate kiss we've ever shared and it was perfect. He eventually pulled away and slipped the beautiful ring onto my hand. I laced our fingers together as we walked out of the house.
I don't think I've ever been more content with life then I am right now. I'm following my dreams with the love of my life and the world seems full of possibilities.
