"Em get up hurry we have to leave now." Luke whisper yelled in my ear. He was shaking me roughly. My eyes snapped open And I rolled over to face him. It was dark outside the window and all the lights in the room were out. The door was closed but the light from the hallway seeped in from under the door. I didn't know what was going on but Luke looked really panicked. I quickly got out of the bed.
"What's happening?" I asked urgently as I slipped on my shoes. Luke sighed.
"I'll explain in the car, you need to get all your stuff because we need to leave right now. There's really bad people on their way here right now and we don't want to be here when they show up." He said quickly as he stuffed some of his things into a bag. I quickly grabbed my bag and threw things I had laying around into it. I was really scared. After about 5 minutes later the door opened.
"Its time to go we need to leave right now!" Ryder said as he ran down the hall. Luke grabbed my hand before running in the direction Ryder went in.
We ran to the back of the house. I'd never been to this part of the mansion before. Luke led me into the garage and ran to his car. I chased after him and quickly slid into the passengers seat. I threw my bag in the back as did Luke.
"I need to go talk to Ryder really fast before we go. You stay here okay? Don't leave this car I promise I'll be right back." He said before running to a BMW not too far away.
I looked around the garage trying to focus on anything but my racing heart. I saw Landon and Bryce hop into a black Mercedes and Peter joined Ryder in the BMW. Where was Drew?
Luke was standing next to the drivers window talking to Ryder in a low voice. I couldn't make out what he was saying.
"Luke get in your fucking car we're out of time!" Yelled Bryce from his car. Luke gave him the finger as he exchanged a few more words with Ryder before sprinting back to the car. He jumped in the drivers seat and started the car. Bryce's car was the first to leave followed by Ryder's and we were last.
"Okay there's guns on the floor in the back, in case we need to use them do you know how to shoot?" He asked me as he sped up. I was on the verge of hyperventilating.
"Are you kidding me!? No I can't fucking shoot! Tell me what the hell is going on and where the fuck we're going!" I demanded. Luke ran a hand through his hair.
"We--" he didn't get the chance to finish before there was a big explosion behind us. The front of the mansion was on fire.
"Holy shit!" I screamed. I rolled down my window to get more air. This was insane.
"Well looks like we got out right on time."Luke said as he turned onto a side road. The mansion slowly disappeared from sight. We were still following the other two cars.
"Okay we have this gang we're enemies with, the Snipes. Drew started some shit with them, he stole they're goods and then lied to all of us about it. He went out to a party last night and never came back. We have reason to believe the Snipes have him. They sent us a threat in code telling us they were coming for us.
The Snipes are one of the baddest gangs around, everyone knows to not mess with them but Drews a dumb fuck who doesn't listen." Luke explained. I let that sink in for a second. I knew Drew was a creep but that's just plain stupid. You don't steal from a gang for kicks and giggles.
"Okay so how are we going to save him?" I asked playing with my hair. Luke sighed.
"That's the thing, the Snipes are known for torture and killing. They're ruthless. There's a good chance Drew is already dead but there's no way we can know for sure. Its a tough call to make because we could just be walking into a trap for nothing if we attempt to save him. But if we don't go there's a chance he is still alive and then we'd just be letting him die." Luke said. I took a deep breath. This was so messed up. How do you make a call like that?
"What did you guys decide?" I asked, I wasn't sure I wanted to hear the answer. If they didn't go their friend would die for sure. If they did go it could be for nothing and it would put all their lives at risk.
"Their gang is hard core but so is ours. We took an oath to be there for each other so that's what we're going to do. I couldn't live with myself if we didn't go and he could've been saved." Luke explained. I nodded my head. I understood that. I was glad they chose that but at the same time I wasn't. Now there was a chance I could lose Luke all to save creepy stupid Drew. I knew I was wrong for thinking this way but Luke meant more to me then Drew did and I just wanted him to be safe.
"Okay, where are we going." I asked trying to hold it together. I wasn't going to guilt Luke into staying no matter how much I wanted to.
"We have a secret cabin in the woods a little ways from here. It was made for situations like this." He said making a left turn onto the high way.
"What about my parents? They're going to freak. And what about school? Shit I forgot my backpack at headquarters! Oh my god this is crazy you can't do this." I said shaking my head. I told myself I wouldn't guilt him but this was too much, too risky. I couldn't handle this.
"What if you get hurt? What if you die? What will I do then? You can't do this." I said as tears ran down my face. I said I wouldn't cry but I couldn't help it. This was a huge mess.
"It's gonna be okay, I'll be fine." He said in a calming voice. I shook my head.
"You don't know that!" I cried as I looked at him.
"You're right I don't know that, but I have to believe it. This won't be easy I never want to leave you but I have no choice." He said gripping the steering wheel tighter.
"You do have a choice! You always have a choice! You can stay with me! You can choose me!" I yelled as I cried harder. Luke grabbed my hand.
"I will always choose you. But this is something I have to do. You said you understood what being in a gang meant. You said you could handle it. This is not you handling it." He said. I could see the sadness in his eyes. I needed to pull it together. I wiped some of my tears away with my free hand.
"I know. I just can't stand the thought of losing you." I whispered. My heart hurt. Luke sighed.
"I'm gonna be alright okay?" He said. I knew he was probably more afraid then I was. If anything I needed to hold it together for him.
"Yeah you're gonna be okay." I said as calmly as I could. That statement may not be 100% true but Luke was right, some things you just had to believe. There's no way I could keep it together if I didn't believe that, so I believed. I looked up at the stars from my window and I prayed with everything in me that he would be alright.
