"You're the girl. You're the one. Gave you everything I love. I think there's something."
All of the closest people to Aubrey and Alexandra watched them dance together. For the first time as a couple and for the first time as Mr. & Mrs. Graham. This is the happiest and most nervous they've ever been. Aubrey spun Alexandra around and watched as her flowy white gown twirled along with her. Alexandra spun back into Aubrey's arms and he mouthed the words "You're a good girl and you know it". She smiled and rested her head on Aubrey's chest. Perfect day. Perfect man. Start of a perfect life. Then Aubrey's chest started to vibrate. She made an uneasy face.
Alexandra picked up her phone from under her pillow. She was in Aubrey's bed, alone. Wearing the new OVO merch that Aubrey told her not to sleep in. Alexandra answered her phone.
Aubrey (Over the background noise): Hey babe, I'm still at the birthday party. I probably won't be back home until Monday.
Alexandra (Rolling her eyes and using a fake cheery voice): Umm. Ok! Yeah! That's fine. I'll see you in Toronto.
She hung up the phone and Aubrey went back to hanging out with the Kardashians.
Aubrey and Alexandra conveniently spent the weekend apart because of some awkward tension.
[Flashback]
Alexandra: I don't wanna marry you as a rapper.
Aubrey: What?!
Alexandra: That came out wrong. Uhh, I want us to be settled when we actually get married.
Aubrey: What does it matter if we are or aren't, Alex? Are you still insecure about what I do?
Alexandra: No. I'm saying when me and you are done living out our dreams. We can finally do that.
Aubrey: Ya know, for you to have been the one to finish high school the first time, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard you say.
Alexandra raised her eyebrow.
Alexandra: The fuck is that supposed to mean?! I'm not saying I don't wanna do it. I'm not saying I'm scared to do it.
Aubrey: Then what are you saying?
Alexandra: I'm saying that after you appear at more sweet 16s & release more most anticipated albums of the year and do GQ and King Of Diamonds 3 more times and go back to acting, we can get married.
Aubrey: It's not like we're getting any younger.
Alexandra (Grabbing Aubrey's hand): And it's not like we're not gonna do it.
Alexandra was giving Aubrey the time to still be Drake and still accomplish everything he wanted to before they had to get married. That also gave them room to actually see if they were meant to be. Even if they were in love and looked good together, that didn't mean they needed to be married. Failed Hollywood marriages was something Alexandra didn't wanna be categorized in. And failed love was something they were both all too familiar with.
[Now]
They just chose to kind of stay out of each other's way for a while. It was actually really easy for Alex to stay out of Aubrey's way. He was getting bigger and bigger by the second and she couldn't stop it. She didn't want to. She wasn't about to make Aubrey slow down because they stopped having dinner together. But in a way their relationship was all she had. Aubrey was all she had. She spent so much time working on being with him and going back and forth with him. She should just keep her mouth shut and let things be. Alexandra was really tempted to get high but instead, she caught an earlier flight to Toronto to wait for Aubrey. Apart of her recovery was to do whatever it takes to avoid drugs. So she went to Aubrey's place in Toronto and played with some matches until she fell asleep on the couch. She woke up when all of the guys walked in with their bags. Aubrey kneeled beside Alexandra as she opened her eyes.
Aubrey: Wassup?
Alexandra wasn't used to Aubrey greeting her like that.
[Flashback]
Alexandra was sleeping on her couch and Aubrey surprised her walking in with breakfast. His keys hitting the counter woke her up. She sat up.
Aubrey: Morning beautiful. I bought us breakfast.
He walked over to Alexandra with a cup of coffee and kissed her. He smiled at her and pushed her hair away from her face.
Aubrey: Good morning baby girl. (Kissing Alexandra again) Lets eat.
[Now]
Alexandra (Slowly): Hi.
Everyone else went to their respective rooms to put their things away. Alexandra sat up and Aubrey sat beside her.
Alexandra: Why are you guys so late?
Aubrey: I got pulled over by this cop who had the WORST accent.
He kissed her cheek and got up. Aubrey trading hoods for backwards hats meant so much more than a new fashion statement. Alexandra got up and walked with Aubrey into the kitchen.
Alexandra: Sooo. What's the news on the album?
Ryan was about to walk in but he turned around and went back upstairs.
Aubrey: We're pushing it back.
Alexandra: WHAT?!
Aubrey: We're pushing it back a week.
Alexandra: Why?!
Aubrey: I want everything to be perfect.
Alexandra: But you're almost done.
Aubrey: Look, it's not like you're not gonna hear it.
Alexandra: Aubrey, you know how I feel about the music. I wanna hear it with the fans.
Aubrey: I'm NOT debating with you.
Alexandra: Why can't you do shit on time? Why is everything always going left for you?!
Aubrey: It's not your album.
Alexandra: But it's your tour. How are you gonna release an album then go on a tour? You constantly pushing albums back is unprofessional.
Aubrey: Just like every time you wanna runaway and sleep with your ex, you close down your store.
Alexandra: Wow.
Aubrey was right about her ex but she didn't play around with her store. Her store was one of the hottest new boutiques in Calabasas. And her and AJ were done. Like he has a girlfriend and still lives in Canada done. But even though she was near him, she couldn't run off and be with him for a week. Talking about AJ brought up the break ups and the abortion and every wound from their past relationship. This was supposed to be the new Alexandra and Aubrey and it was. Alex was more self confident and she stopped biting her tongue. Aubrey was a little more aware of himself and was starting to thrive in his success. He knew he could have the world and it showed. Alexandra grabbed her bag and left the condo. She caught a flight to New York (something that sounds hard but is an amazingly easy task). About 5 hours had passed and Alexandra was laying in a hotel room floor. Next to her was her cell phone, a baggy of coke and her purse. Alexandra starred up at the ceiling looking for an answer. If she should do it or if she shouldn't. Aubrey was NOT like this. Maybe it was the stress. Maybe it was the success. Maybe it was them. So much was running through Alexandra's mind right now and there was no one to vent to. No one to throw away the bag and no one to tell her everything would be fine. She wasn't doubting herself. She was just realizing that nothing really was the same. Aubrey didn't smile at her like he used to. He didn't pick her up when he hugged her. He didn't kiss her for as long as he could anymore. She wanted him. She wanted Aubrey more than anything in the world.
[Flashback]
Alexandra was getting off of a jet from Paris fashion week and to her surprise, Aubrey was standing on the runway in front of his white Rolls Royce with a huge smile on his face. Alexandra screamed and ran down the stairs with open arms to greet Aubrey. She didn't know he was gonna be there because he told her before she left that he would spend their time apart recording. When she made it off the stairs, Aubrey hugged her and picked her up. He kissed her cheek as he sat her down.
Alexandra: What are you doing here?!? I missed you so much.
Aubrey: I missed you too. I'm here to take my fiancé out with no paparazzi.
Alexandra laughed through her tears of joy and they got in the car together.
[Now]
Alexandra wiped her tears, sat up and started separating the coke with a credit card on top of a hand mirror.
