"What makes Alexandra Mitchell different?"
Alexandra: I don't need to be different as long as I know that people love me for who I am. I don't need to be defined by a pick up line that celebrities use to get people to like them more.
Aubrey watched some videos of Alexandra on his phone while he sat in a secluded section of the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Aubrey sent Noah back to Toronto to finish working on the album with the guys. Even if Aubrey wasn't there, the guys had to find a way to get the song samples to clear so they wouldn't have to push the album back a second time. There was a video on Aubrey's phone of him Alexandra at his pool.
[On The Video]
Alexandra: Come get in the water!
Aubrey: No I'm fine.
Alexandra: You don't wanna get your part wet?
Aubrey and Alexandra laughed.
[Now]
An older, attractive woman dressed in expensive attire walked in and sat beside Aubrey. She held her Michael Kors purse on her lap.
Woman: I raised a little girl that had her head in the stars. Everything about her was being something significant in this world. She wanted to leave her mark. Be successful. I used to think that all that she wanted was a silly little pipe dream. But when she was able to go to school and do exactly what she wanted to...I was proud. She finally proved me wrong. Another thing about her was boys. She was always about boys. And being in love. And every new R&B sensation you could think of, she was in love with him. Just like every boy at her school that caught her attention. I honestly didn't think she would be as successful and as respected as she is. I wanted the world for my baby girl. My first born. The reason I strived to be everything great in life. I knew what to say to her. When she had a problem. When she had a question. When she didn't want an answer, I had one for her not wanting it. I don't know how to say that my baby is dead. I don't wanna say that.
Aubrey looked over at her. It was like looking at an older version of Alexandra. Her mother, head of one of the first international family owned business in the world. Alexandra's first modeling job was promoting the building of the very first spa when she was 16. Her 17th birthday present was an offer to advertise for GAP teens and on to H&M and other local businesses out of respect from coming from a small business owner.
Alex's mother: I told her not to let anything make her be less than what she's capable of. And she is capable of running the world. I'm just wondering why she's here. What happened? How did it happen? Why did it happen?
Them two waiting on information for Alexandra was like waiting for sunshine in a hail storm. Finally a doctor stepped out.
Doctor: Are you siblings or?
Alexandra's mother was young to have a 23-year-old and she wore age well.
Angel: I'm her mother, Angel Mitchell.
Aubrey: And I'm a friend of the family.
Doctor: I'm doctor William Clark. Alexandra is in very critical condition.
Aubrey: How critical?
Doctor Clark: She's in a coma. Near vegetative state. She overdosed on a powerful drug with a high blood alcohol. We tried to pump her stomach multiple times but-
Angel: How long until she gets out of the coma?
Doctor Clark: It's a waiting game. I do have to tell you that we did lose her on the way here. We're lucky we revived her in time. There is significant brain activity which is great but only time will tell.
Aubrey looked around. Alex's mom sat back down and sobbed.
[Flashback]
Alexandra swallowed the pills and vodka and laid back down in the floor. After about 30 minutes of laying there looking at the ceiling, Alexandra's eye-lids got heavy and she could hear her heart beating. It sped up a little bit but it slowed down. It got slower and slower until Alexandra closed her eyes. Her breathing got more and more faint. She forgot that she ordered room service before and the waiter was told he could he come into the room with the food (this might have saved Alexandra's life). When he walked in, he saw Alexandra on the floor and rushed to her and called the ambulance. She was barely breathing by the time she hit the lobby and that's why everyone thought she was dead because they were trying to resuscitate her in open space.
[Now]
Alexandra's mother sat in the room with her for about two hours then totally had to get back to her business. She was staying in a nearby hotel so she could work and stay near Alexandra. Aubrey left when Alex's mom was with her but came back a few hours later to see her. He sat in the chair beside her and held her hand. He looked at her. He wished that it could've been a quick fix like the other times but he wasn't sure at all. They found her dead. She almost stayed that way. Aubrey rubbed her arm as he still held her hand.
Aubrey: It's always so weird to not wake up to you. Even when you're sleeping, having you around makes me feel at home. You keep me grounded. You keep me sane even when you drive me insane. I released the album cover. I pushed the album back to wait for my samples to clear. I'm going on tour. I want you to go with me. I remember you out in the shows and you coming to the awards and you being around and giving me the spotlight. You could've begged and pleaded for us to come out as a couple but you made it all about the music. And the business. I'm no different from your exes. I cheat. I neglect you. I try to buy you. I'm not as good as the stories girls write. And I know your insecurities are validated. We've done horrible things to be together. But I know we could do great things together.
[Flashback]
Aubrey and the guys were looking at chains and new jewelry to buy in Toronto. Aubrey was browsing the whole store for things then he saw a diamond ring. It was a beautiful 3 carat ring. It matched Alexandra'a eyes. It complimented her smile. It went with the diamond earrings her mother gave her. The jeweler walked up to Aubrey.
Aubrey: Um. Can I see this?
The guys all stopped what they're doing and walked up to Aubrey. It looked like he was making a mistake all over again [he proposed to a girl when he was younger]. The jeweler took out a huge tray and took the ring out of its display setting and gave it to Aubrey. He imagined how it would look on Alexandra's finger and her face when she saw it.
[Now]
The best thing about them two was that Alexandra made Aubrey feel normal. And Aubrey made Alexandra feel special. Not special like the diamonds and cars special, special like he'd die if she walked away from him. Alexandra was emotionally depended on Aubrey. She felt raw and alone all the time. Aubrey filled that void.
Aubrey: I don't know if because I was with girls that weren't good for me...will I be good for you. (Letting go) When you wake up...I just...want you to wake up.
