Alexandra finally stopped crying and dried her hair, face and tears. It was a mixture of euphoria and sheer fear. Nothing about her was scared exactly, she was just nervous and surprised and happy. She put on her silk room and climbed back into bed with Aubrey. She tried to position herself in his arms and woke him up.
Alexandra (In a whisper): I didn't mean to wake you.
Aubrey gripped her.
Aubrey (In a soft tone): It's fine. I sleep peacefully on planes.
Aubrey held her tight as Alexandra looked out at the moon from the slightly opened side of the curtains. She felt at peace with herself as she felt Aubrey's warm breath.
Alexandra: This trip is everything I could ask for.
Aubrey interlocked his and Alexandra's hands. The more and more he touched her, the more and more she felt like she was melting inside. His warm breath was like a soft, crisp blanket. His soft skin seemed like it could peal off every layer of fear and insecurity that Alexandra wore. This one moment of intimacy meant so much to Alexandra. It was something she lacked, something she craved, something she'd fall for.
Aubrey: You're everything I could ask for.
He kissed her cheek and held her tighter.
There wasn't anything that could stop the growing and everlasting connection between the two. They had a chemistry that was unmatchable anywhere else. Their passion was undeniable.
[Earlier that day]
Alexandra and Aubrey went out for a day at the beach. Alexandra was dressed in a black bikini covered up with a black and white chiffon dress paired with black wedge sandals and Aubrey wore a soccer jersey and swim trunks for Seine, a riverbank transformed into a Caribbea-like paradise. Aubrey laid at the end of a beach chair as Alexandra took a picture of him wearing her Ray-Bans sunglasses.
Alexandra (smiling): You look perfect.
Aubrey took his iPhone and put it in his pocket.
Aubrey: Now on to you. You look so beautiful today.
Smiled and flipped her hair.
Aubrey: I really haven't felt this way about someone in a long time. Why does this feel so brand new?
Alexandra leaned in.
Alexandra: I don't know why it feels new for you but I do know why it does for me.
Aubrey: How?
Alexandra: Guys have fallen for me. They've fallen for me the same way you have. But..they come to their senses after a while. I don't seem like I'm worth it after a while.
Aubrey sat up and sat in the chair with Alexandra.
Aubrey: Alex, I don't know how else to put this. I've been scared to let people in. I haven't wanted to commit. But after being with you. I realize that I just didn't want to because those girls didn't make me feel the way that you did. They don't challenge me. They don't excite me. They just stimulate the moment. Not my life. You are what I want to keep me going.
[Back In Bed]
Alexandra thought of how safe she felt in Aubrey's arms and closed her eyes. Aubrey was finally content with himself and his choice in Alexandra. He didn't mind sharing his life and his success with Alex because he felt she deserved it. She deserved it all.
Aubrey kissed Alexandra and went to sleep. The next morning, Alexandra woke up in bed alone. She pulled the covers over her bare chest and looked around. Then she heard her name being called and got out of bed. Aubrey was sitting in the suite's dinning room with an exquisite breakfast prepared. Alexandra stood in the walk way in just underwear holding her boobs with her crossed arms.
Alexandra (with a faint laugh): I'm not dressed for breakfast.
Aubrey got up and walked to Alexandra and grabbed her hands and wrapped them around his neck.
Aubrey (Picking Alexandra up): I know what you're dressed for.
They both smiled at each other and Aubrey took Alexandra to the bedroom. Before they could make it to the bed, the two fell to the floor laughing. Aubrey kissed down Alexandra's neck and pulled off her underwear and pushed inside of her. Aubrey had her on the floor for 20 minutes until he moved to the bed and kissed her from top to bottom. When they were finished, Alexandra took a shower while Aubrey sat in the living room on the phone.
After her shower, Alexandra stood in the huge bathroom mirror in nothing but a towel. She reflected a tall, slim, long (and wet) haired girl desperate for answers for herself. She looked down at her engagement ring and thought.
[In Her Mind]
Alexandra was dressed in that same princess wedding gown with the ruffles. Her hair was in the same bun and had a broach at the base of it. The two images clashed and the Alexandra that was in a towel was looking at the Alexandra in the wedding gown.
[In The Living Room]
Aubrey spoke on the phone to his best friend Tay.
Tay: You did WHAT?!
Aubrey spoke while watching something in French.
Aubrey: I proposed to her.
Tay: Wait. That model chick with the nice boobies? You've been hittin that?! Oh my GAHHH.
Aubrey (laughing): Ummm. I can't answer that. But I asked her to marry me. I was so nervous.
Tay: Did she say yes?
[Back In The Bathroom]
Alexandra realized why she was constantly seeing herself dressed in this wedding gown. Not because of anticipation or nervousness.
[Flashback to Kimberly, Alexandra and Nicole at the bar after closing]
Kimberly: I really think you should stop pushing this guy away.
Nicole and Alexandra both took shots.
Nicole (making a sour face): Yeah. I think that even though he has a busy life, you should still take a chance on him. He treats you really well and he spends time with you that he can't afford to give up.
Alexandra poured herself another vodka shot.
Kimberly: I think you guys have something going really well. Don't mess it up. This could be the one.
Kimberly walked behind the bar and took the bottle before Alexandra could pour herself another shot.
[In The Bathroom]
Alexandra shook it off, left the bathroom and got dressed. She put on a white trench coat, black leggings and white wedge sneakers. Alexandra stepped into the living room so that Aubrey couldn't see her while she was on the phone.
Aubrey (still on the phone): I don't know what happened to her in the past that well, but her insecurities are so hard to deal with sometimes.
Tay: I mean, you bring out the insecurities in a girl. Your job, your friends, your lifestyle. It's really intimidating. I can honestly say that I don't blame her for being a little scared.
Aubrey: But I wanna know if I could marry her. I wanna know if I made the right decision.
Tay: Why'd you give her the ring?
Alexandra walked up behind Aubrey who was sitting on the couch and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Aubrey: Look, I gotta go. I'm gonna call you back. Bye.
He hung up the phone and turned to Alexandra who was smiling on the outside but was more confused than ever. Aubrey had just as many doubts about what was going on with them than her. What is supposed to happen now?
