CHAPTER TWO

The cab ride back to her parent's house was perhaps the epitome of uncomfortable for Camilla.

Once said cab had arrived, she had scrambled into the corner with Storm and Craig following suit. If she'd thought that London buses were restricting, she'd been proven otherwise.

She knew that being a rugby player, regardless of position, required both muscular strength and determination – which managed to evidently be displayed through their exterior. And whilst she'd always known that her brother was large, he did in fact pale in comparison to Storm who stood at around 6ft 9; with his muscles tensing with just the briefest of arm movement. Which was perhaps why she stilled as he settled in beside her, his thigh touching her own, but unlike her, he made no attempt to move away.

Not that there was much space for him to move into anyways.

Craig sat opposite them, stretching out his legs as he grinned. "Mum's going to be all over you, you know. From what I've heard, she's probably glancing out the window right now, just waiting for you."

She groaned. "You could have at least given a few days to prepare."

Craig showed no sympathy and shrugged, flipping out a finger in the process. "You've had a whole year to prepare, Mila." She rolled her eyes at this, crossing her arms across her chest in mock irritation. His comment however had pierced me; perhaps it was just a little prick but, it'd made an impact nevertheless.

That wasn't his fault though.

The rest of the journey consisted of small talk, Storm occasionally made eye contact with her and smiled briefly. Perhaps it was because her brother was sat a mere breath away, but with the way that his knee nudged hers, she was glad for the lack of conversation.

It took them approximately an hour to make it to her parents' house, but that was mostly because of the traffic that had evaded the streets. But, that simply reminded her of New York.

However, once they finally did reach their destination, they found out that Craig's prediction was in fact correct. With the curtains drawn ever so slightly, just so that a small gap was left exposed, her mother peeked through. It wasn't all that surprising since they'd grown up with a nosy mother and time definitely did not change that.

At one point, her mother's lurking had somehow resulted in Camilla formulating a friendship with another girl, and to think that was all from her mother's lurking at their window. Which also happened to be why she'd granted her mum a pair of binoculars on her birthday. But that was an entirely different story.

She sighed as she followed the two men out of the cab, pulling at her top that had rode up. Storm chuckled beside her, "Your mum's something, alright." What surprised her was although he appeared to be teasing, there was something else laced with his words; admiration of some sort. Clearly he was crazy. That explained why he was profoundly attractive anyways.
