War on The Horizon

"Wow.." Touma muttered. "This is.. er.."

"Uh-huh." said Tsuchimikado.

"No kidding.." said Aogami.

Ben was sitting in a hospital bed, surrounded by hundreds of flowers and get well letters.. most of them from girls.

Mikoto sat next to Ben's bed, her eye twitching irritably, and electricity crackling from her bangs, a box of chocolates in her arms.

"Th-they think they can win my Ben with.. with.. FLOWERS!?" Mikoto growled. "Stupid, little.. "

Ben's entire homeroom class had decided to come visit Ben that day, as it was heard that he had fought a major player from one of the sides in the current war that was escalating, and in the process he had unlocked what was perhaps the most powerful alien ever seen in Academy City... so news travelled fast.

"Really Ben!" said Seirei. "How many fans to you have?"

"Er." said Ben. "It's not just humans you know.."

As if on cue, suddenly, a flash of light appeared in the room, the tell tale signs of teleportation technology.

An alien girl with purple skin and three eyes and squid-like limbs appeared, holding a vase of flowers and a card.

"Get well soon Mr. Tennyson!" said the alien, blushing a deeper shade of purple as she set the vase and card down with the others. "The entire Galaxy is thinking of you. Especially me.."

"OH WOULD YOU GET THE F*CK OUT OF HERE!?" Mikoto roared, electricity exploding from her bangs.

"Meep!" The alien disappeared, leaving Mikoto seething.

"It's been like this all day." Ben said.

The rest of Ben's class which was in the room muttered amongst each other as Touma sighed and patted Ben on the back. " It's a cruel world we live in buddy."

"Oh yeah.." said Ben with a grin. "So what's this I hear about you actually beating Ma Vreedle?"

"He.. WHAT!?" Mikoto stammered. "MA VREEDLE!?"

"Why is everyone so afraid of her!?" said Touma.

"CAUSE NOBODY MESSES WITH MA VREEDLE!" Mikoto screamed. "Dear God! How are you even alive!? I mean surviving Accelerator is one thing.. BUT MA VREEDLE!?"

"Again... Why is everyone scared of her!?" Touma stammered. "I mean she definitely is tough.. but people seem more scared of her than is warranted."

"Trust me Touma." said Ben. "There are things about Ma Vreedle that if you knew, you would pee your pants. Did you know she's not afraid of Toepick? Why? Because she's seen worse.."

"Okay, I'll admit, that is REALLY scary." said Seirei.  "But we're getting off our real topic here.. so Ben.. we heard you're getting released today.. so.."

"We decided we'd take you out to eat!" said Aogami. "How's that sound? We're thinking of that Hot Pot place down in District 7? Interested?"

A Japanese Hot Pot restaurant?" said Ben. "Count me in!! I haven't actually tried one of those before."

Index wiggled her way through the crowd of highschoolers and gave Touma  a questioning look. "Japanese.. Hot Pot?"

"I'll explain when we get there." said Touma. "You up for it too Misaka?"

"Why not?" said Mikoto. "We are celebrating Ben's clean bill of health after all."

later that day, as Ben and Mikoto followed the rest of the group down the Academy City streets, Ben whispered. "Ever found out what happened to Acqua?"
