Three weeks later

We are more emotional than ever. Noah went back to his community to see what we left, but there was nothing. Tyreese was bit in the arm, leading Rick to amputate it. The infection spread too quickly, and they couldn't save him. He died, leaving Sasha almost numb.

Death seems to be all around us. Everyone is hoping to find food soon. We are hungry, tired, thirsty, and scared. With such a big group, it's difficult to care for everyone. Especially a baby. We're so desperate.

I had no time to mourn Beth anymore. I was so dehydrated that I couldn't let myself cry. I was out of tears. I knew I couldn't have done anything to prevent Beth's death, so I can't dwell on what happened. There was nothing I could say or do to change the past, so I'm trying to forget.

"Daryl, it's been a week since Atlanta. You're not the only one who lost someone back there. We all did," I sighed and looked up to him.

"She's hungry," he said, referring to Judith fussing, and he completely ignored my question.

I sighed and handed her to Rick.

"I'm gonna head out. See what I can find," Daryl spoke up, walking towards the tree line.

"Hey, don't be too long," Rick told him.

"I'll go with you," Carol offered.

"I got it," he snapped

"You gonna stop me?" She fought back.

They both walked away and disappeared into the shade of the forest. I was in front of Gabriel but behind Carl and Maggie. I walked alone, not wanting to spark up a conversation with anyone at this moment.

"Found this when we were looking for water," Carl spoke up, pulling a music box out of his bag. He handed it to Maggie, and she studied it.

"What is it?" She asked.

"I think it used to play music. It's broken," he answered.

"Thanks, Carl," she smiled at him.

"I thought you might like it," he smiled weakly and trailed behind, so he caught up with me.

"That was nice of you, Carl," I told him and smiled. He nodded and looked at me.

"I'm sorry that happened," he said.
