"A broken heart is the worst; it's like having broken ribs, nobody can see it, but it hurts every time you breathe."

We've been walking for what feels like forever, surrounded by rotting corpses. Everyone we pass, even more decayed. Rick suddenly pulled us aside.

"Alright, new plan."

"Flares from a few guns aren't enough. Too many walkers to spread out. We're not going to the armoury. We need our vehicles back at the quarry. All of us drive. We'll need to round 'em up," Rick explained.

Michonne and Carl stood a few feet away from the group, keeping watch.

"We leave, we come back."

"Okay," Jessie agreed.

"But Judith...to the quarry and back, I..." she said, obviously knowing Judith couldn't make it that long without making a noise. Judith was just a baby, after all.

I nodded in agreement, and Rick was at a loss for words. He didn't have a plan.

"I'll take her," Gabriel spoke up.

No way in hell is he taking her. We couldn't even trust him to keep his mouth shut about us.

"Keep her safe in my church until you all lead the walkers away."

"Are you seriously considering this, Rick?" I piped in.

They ignored me, and Michonne spoke up.

"Can you do this?"

"I'm supposed to. I have to. I will."

Rick agreed, and Carl started passing Judith to Gabriel.

"Wait," I stopped and walked over to them.

"I need to say goodbye." I kissed her temple.

"You're okay. You're going to be okay. We're all going to be okay," I assured her, the words being more for me than her. Gabriel took her gently.

"Take Sam," Jessie butted in.

"No, I'm not leaving you," he cried.

"It'll be safer."

"Mom, I can keep going, please," he insisted.

"Okay."

Gabriel then walked off. My heart pounded with every step he took.

Then we started again. Rick, Sam, Jessie, Carl, me, Ron, and Michonne, none of us expected what was to come.

Night had fallen, and I kept looking to the North Star, the one Carl told me about. The one he pointed to before I became his girlfriend.
