"I'm telling you, you did what you believed you had to go through all of this. Not what was easiest or best for you. And I don't know ten men who would be brave enough to do that."

Everyone was preparing for the long-awaited final stand. This was it...It was now or never. After speaking with Enid and Michonne, I climbed down the tower and headed up to Barrington house.

The large building was filled with people from all three communities working together to prepare for the fight. Maggie was leading all of this, and I knew we were in good hands. She's one of the strongest people I know and who I aspire to be like. She is still mourning the death of Glenn but is staying strong, and I hope to be like that. For Carl and the rest of our group.

Speaking of, I made my way to the main office where I kept a couple of my things. On an armchair sat Carl's flannel that I brought with me. I hadn't touched it since I brought it here, but I still had the hat on my head. Picking up the shirt, I brought it to my nose and breathed in, hoping his scent would still be present. It was.

"Hey, have you seen Rick? Maggie wanted to know how he was holding up with Negan and everything," Enid came into the room, and I put on the flannel, leaving it unbuttoned.

"Wait...Negan? What about him?" I asked, realizing what she had said.

"No one told you? He went after Negan while he was outside of the gates getting ready to signal," she trailed off, and I raised my eyebrows slightly.

"Jesus...I had no idea," I said as we started leaving the room and pushing past the crowded foyer.

"No one tells me anything around here," I muttered to myself, loading my gun and leaving the building.

Night was starting to fall as I made my way to Tobin and Carol. They were talking with each other, and I had realized I still hadn't spoken to Carol since Carl.

She looked at me sadly for a minute before pulling me into a hug. It's hard to believe she was a mother before all this. The way she is now isn't always what it was like.

"How're you holding up?" She asked as she pulled away, and Tobin smiled at me, backing away to give us a moment.

"The best I can right now," I said, adjusting my pistol in its holster.

She nodded, and I looked up quickly to see Jerry signalling to Maggie. They were here.

"Keep your distance," Carol ordered as she looked into my eyes. I nodded, and she kissed me on the head, and I hurried off to stand with Tara.

"You ready?" I asked with the machine gun ready in my hands, and she gave a nervous chuckle and nod.

"We got this," I smiled nervously, and she gave me a fist bump.
