"Sometimes, I wish I could go back in life. Not to change things, but to feel a couple things twice."

I headed into the medical trailer to find painkillers for Tara, but instead, I bumped into Siddiq.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," I frantically apologized but avoided eye contact.
I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at him, his back now facing me.
"Is there something on my face?" I tried to joke, but she shook his head.
"I'm sorry," he spoke, barely above a whisper.
My lips parted as he turned around, now having tears in his eyes.
"I-I'm sorry," he said again. "I never meant for it to happen. I didn't think he was going to come back for me."
"No. No. I'm not mad at you," I said softly.
"You're not?" He asked as he looked at me.
"That's the type of person Carl was, Siddiq. He was the type of person to come back for someone. He wanted to help, and now we have a doctor. I need to believe his death meant something, and you're proving to me that it wasn't for nothing," I said. I couldn't believe the words coming out of my mouth. Of course, I was mad, but not at Siddiq. It was no one's fault.
"Thank you," he smiled. "I'm going to honour him."

I squinted up towards the sun to get a better look at Rick. He was finally reading the letter. Again, I saw Carl. He was looking over the balcony and admiring the hilltop. I saw him often now. He wouldn't say anything, just look and observe. It was almost comforting in a way.
I played with Judy, and Michonne stayed with us to give Rick some space.
"You wanna go over there?" Michonne asked Judy as she pointed to the door. The toddler clapped, and Michonne and I each took one of her hands, and we headed to the building as Rick looked down at us.
Jerry bounced Gracie in his arms, Morgan cleaned his stick, and it felt calm for a little while.
Once Judith was handed off to Maggie, I headed upstairs to see Rick placing the note down on a dresser and Michonne lying on the bed.
"You wanna read it?" Rick asked as he noticed me walking in. I gave him a cautious nod, and he returned it, letting me know it was okay.
"I remember my 8th birthday at the KCC with that giant cake and Aunt Evie showing up on leave, surprising all of us."
"Is he here yet?" I giggled from my hiding spot behind the counter. Lori sat beside me with an excited look on her face and gave me a quick nod. Rick was outside with Carl and had just arrived back at the king county cafe where family and friends waited for the birthday boy to see his surprise party.
