"It is an unfortunate fact that we can secure peace only by preparing for war."

Three months later

"God, you're such a blanket hog," Ben groaned while yanking the covers, leaving me exposed and cold.

I giggled and snuggled into his back, trying to warm up. He turned around to face me and gave me an innocent smile.

"Sorry," I said, giving him puppy dog eyes. He rolled his eyes in return, but the smile never left his face.

"Damn it. I can't stay mad," Ben groaned and began peppering my face with kisses.

The past three months had been alright, all things considered. Sure, everyone was on high alert due to the Whisperers, but we were preparing.

Ben and I were set up in a tent located in Oceanside. It was nice to wake up to the ocean breeze.

Ben and I were taking it slow. We both had past relationships and knew what it was like to lose your partner, and I think that's one of the reasons we got along.

Today was a training day, and I was excited in a way. It felt empowering to be in an army. The Whisperers had no match against us.

"We have to get up. Training starts soon," Ben said, sitting up and putting a shirt on. I sat up and tried my best to get dressed in a two-person tent, which proved to be quite tricky.

After exiting the tent, we grabbed a quick breakfast and suited up. I wore combat boots, jeans, and a button-up shirt. My weapons included my knife in its holster, my gun strapped to my thigh, and my bow and arrows strapped to my back. They were my favourite.

"Everyone, suit up! We meet at the beach in five," Michonne ordered as I finished tying my boots.

"You ready?" Ben asked, giving my shoulder a rub.

"As I'll ever be."

We all stood in formation, stone-cold gaze on the abandoned ship ahead. Various orders were continuously being shouted out as I listened carefully for my cue.

Ezekiel and Jerry opened the door and quickly shut it after a few walkers emerged. They were covered in seaweed and moss, dripping with water.

Cyndie and Rachel led them to us, and the girls quickly joined.

"Halt!" Aaron yelled, being the leader. Everyone made a dead stop.

"Drop!"

"Archers!" That was my cue. I fired over the front line, and my arrow landed among the other arrows in the walkers.

"Retreat!" He yelled, and Cyndie and Rachel ran to gather all of the arrows.

Daryl stood on the sidelines, watching closely, and Michonne stood behind all of us, spectating as well.
