"Damaged people are dangerous. They know how to survive."

The gates opened with a loud creaking noise of metal against metal, causing me to cringe at the sound. It silenced after they were fully opened, but a banging was heard from behind us, causing the group to point their gun at the source routinely.
What came crawling out of an old trash can was a large possum, Daryl shooting it and picking up the dead animal by its tail.
"We brought dinner."
The gates were closed behind us, causing me to jump, but Carl rubbed my shoulder and nodded reassuringly, causing my pounding heartbeat to slow.
"Before we take this any further, I need you all to turn over your weapons. Stay, you hand them over," a man harshly told us.
"We don't know if we want to stay," Rick spat, stepping forward.
"If we were gonna use them, we would have started already," Rick growled.
"Nicholas, it's fine. Let them talk to Deanna first," Aaron reassured.
"Who's Deanna?" Abe yelled.
"She knows everything you'd want to know about this place. Rick, why don't you start?" Aaron asked.
The familiar snarling of a walker was heard, and we all turned around.
"Skylar," Rick said my name, telling me to take out the walker.
I nodded and shot it between the eyes with my silenced gun.
"It's a good thing we're here."

It was my turn to talk to this Deanna woman. I followed the small older lady into her clean house. She then motioned to an armchair, and I sat down.
"Do you mind if I record this?" She asked me while setting up her camera.
I nodded and tucked my hair behind my ear as I sat down on the couch across from me. I felt uncomfortable in this spotless community with my dirty self.
"Skylar. How old are you?"
"15, I think."
"Daryl is your uncle? Where's the rest of your family?"
"Yeah. Daryl's my uncle. My dad was his brother. My mom died in a house fire when I was five. My dad turned in the beginning. My other uncle, Merle, was also killed."
"I'm sorry to hear that. How long have you been out there?" She pressed.
"Since the beginning."
