Griffon's POV
Two years have passed since Lucy left. I've all but mastered Water Dragon Slaying Magic. Oceanum has been teaching me random spells to keep me content. Honestly though, I hate it here. Without her, it's so dull. She doesn't come into my room in the morning to prank me, I don't have anyone to eat breakfast with, and I've been training on my own. Really, life is just gray. So boring and uneventful. I think about her almost everyday. I wonder how she has changed, and what has stayed the same. I think about her smile and the way she used to laugh. But mostly, I think about how much I miss her.
A sudden knock on my door jolted me from my memories.
"Who is -" I didn't even get to finish my sentence before Oceanum ran into my room and practically tackled me.
"Hey what's going on?! Is something wrong?! Someone on fire?!" I yelled.
Oceanum began to shake her head frantically. "We have two visitors coming today! You better dress nice! And brush your hair!" She began, with a strange motherly tone.
I became agitated as she tried to fix my messy locks.
"What's so important about some visitors?" I said, standing up and brushing off my pants.
"You'll see..." Oceanum giggled, jumping off her seat on the ground.
"Meet us in the back courtyard at noon. And I swear if you late..." She began to warn.
"Don't worry I'll be there." I said, completely aspirated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I made it to the courtyard behind the castle with five minutes to spare. Like Oceanum had asked, I had brushed my hair and dressed up. I was wearing a starched white button down shirt with a pair of black dress pants and some comfortable loafers.
Oceanum came over to me and glared.
"What?!" I asked.
"When I said dress up, I meant like super fancy tuxedo you nit-wit. We're meeting some very important ladies today." She said in a whispered yell.
"And I was supposed to know this how?" I asked, becoming annoyed.
"No time to change now. Hurry up and get over here."
At exactly 12 o'clock a swirling blue portal opened on the edge of the garden, and two women stepped through.
One had long, chocolate colored hair, tied up in a tight bun. She was wearing what appeared to be an 18th century style dress, and had a matching parasol. Her eyes were bright green, the same color as her dress.
The other, was more difficult to see. She had on a lacy bonnet that covered most of her face and hair. She too wore a Victorian-like dress, accompanied by a parasol, however, her complete outfit was the same dark, dangerous color. Even her lips, which were cast up in a mischievous grin, were painted black.
The two women, walked gracefully to where we were standing, and curtsied.
"Hello, Ms. Tempestatis. It is good to see you again. I see you have a new apprentice." Stellae inquired.
"Hello Stellae. Yes she is indeed a promising pupil." Ms. Tempestatis replied.
The afternoon crawled by, as the five women and I had tea. The girl in black didn't say anything. Neither did I. I watched as they made small talk and conversed about non-important matters.
I found myself drifting away from the conversation. Slowly, images of her began to fill my head. The day we first met in Magnolia. The time she found me by the window in my favorite slippers. The night in the garden. Her smile.
I was jolted out of my thoughts as a light giggle emerged from the lips of the girl in black. She quickly covered her mouth and cleared her throat.
Well that was strange.
"Was it?" A voice entered my head.
Startled, I stood up, shaking the whole table. I apologized and excused myself.
Jeez cults. Great first impression. Underdressed, rudely quite, and to top it off, you ran out of the garden like a lunatic after almost flipping the table. Bravo.
I mentally face palmed. Somehow, I had managed to make it to my room unscathed. I turned the handle and entered. Sitting on my bed, was a pair of pink, fluffy, bunny slippers.
I don't remember putting those there...
"That's because you didn't." The voice giggled.
Get out of my head!
I heard more giggling and finally, it faded out.
"What the hell is going on?" I said, sitting down next to the pink clouds.
"You'd think I was loosing my mind."
"That's what you get for drinking to much tea..." The voice giggled.
I mentally screamed.
A light knock sounded at the door. A few moments later, a maid stepped into my room.
"Dinner will be served in ten minutes Sir."
"Thank you." I said, dismissing her.
Dinner already... I hope it will be slightly more interesting than tea was, that is, before I almost ruined it.
Alright. Time to face the agony of a room full of girls.
