Chapter 12

I just got out of the shower, and I heard my bedroom door open then close. I was hoping it was Kian. I really needed to talk to him about Charlotte.

"Babe? Kia said you were in here."

"Yeah, I'm just getting out of the shower."

I stepped out of the shower and wrapped the towel around my body just in time. Kian opened the door and smiled at me.

"There's my beautiful baby girl and my soon to be beautiful baby." He bent down and kissed my belly through my towel. I couldn't help but let the smile spread across my face.

"Did you need something or can this wait until after I get dressed."

"Well," Kian stood up with a smirk on his face. "You could just leave that on." He wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me closer, then leaned down to whisper in my ear. "Or we can take it off"

I felt my cheeks heat up, and I hid my face in his chest to hide it.
Kian chuckled and tilted my head up so he could see my eyes. I smiled up at him as he slowly leaned down and gently pressed his lips against mine, kissing me softly and passionately.

I wanted to stay like that forever, our lips together, his arms wrapped around me, mine wrapped around his neck, him holding me close, but then there was a knock on our bedroom door bringing us out of our fantasy world.

I heard Kian groan, making me giggle a little.

"They better have a good reason for interrupting this." Kian said, lust filling his eyes. His eyes burning into mine. I suddenly became even more aware of each and everyone of my imperfections, my cheeks burning up. Which meant I was blushing and hard.

"I'm sure they don't" I said with a giggle. "Go answer it anyway so I can get dressed."

Kian nodded before pecking my lips one more time, and exiting the bathroom. As soon as he left I let out a deep breath I didn't know I was holding. The things that boy does to me.

Quickly I dried off and threw on Kian's t-shirt and sweat pants. Just as I finished pulling up the pants the bathroom door swung open again, and Kian walked back in with the phone in his hand.

"It's your doctor."

That's weird. Last time Dr. Mike called me he told me I missed an appointment. I didn't this time, I didn't have another appointment until Friday. I took the phone out of Kian's hand, pressing it to my ear as I made my way to the bed.

"Hello?"

"Hi Hailey, it's Dr. Mike."

"Hello Dr." I couldn't hold back the worry in my voice. I was a little on edge every time he called me.

"I was just calling to confirm our appointment tomorrow at 10 am."

Tomorrow? I thought it was on Friday.

"Tomorrow?"

"Yep, tomorrow. Friday the 10th."
Oh. That's right it's Thursday.

"Right, Friday at 10. Sounds perfect, I'll see you then."

We said our goodbyes and hung up. Tomorrow I had my appointment to find out what I was having. This weekend is going to be absolutely amazing!

"Hailey?" The nurse called from the door leading back to the hospital rooms. I smiled over at Kian, taking his hand in mine, and then we both stood up and walked back with the nurse. She led us down the long blue and white hallway.

I looked around at the small little designs on the walls. There were swirls, stars, little heart, and a bunch of other little designs as if a child drew on the wall with a blue marker. I studied the walls, the floors, my shoes, Kian's shoes, pretty much anything to keep my mind off of the baby. I was so nervous and excited at the same time. I never thought finding out the gender of my baby would be this overwhelming. I mean, you just look at a screen and the doctor tells you if there's a penis there or not, but it's different now. Different from all the times I've ever seen it in the movies, or on tv. Different because this way my baby. It was a little mini me and Kian put together. This little gift from God, and it was all mine. Well...and Kian's.

The nurse pulled back a curtain and motioned for us to go in. I walked in and sat up on the little examining table, while Kian pulled a chair closer to the table and held my hand.

"The doctor will be right with you guys." She smiled a bright, white toothy smile.

"Alright thank you." I said with a nod smiling back.

"If you need anything we're right down the hall, or you can press the button on here." She handed me a little remote that had the controls to the little tv in the corner of the room, a speaker to hear the tv, and a big red button with a little white cross on it. I'm guessing that is the button she was referring to.

Without another word she turned and left the room pulling out the curtain shut behind her, and sliding the glass door shut a little as well.

"So, this is it. Today we find out what we're having." Kian said squeezing my hand a little tighter. "Are you as nervous as I am?"

I giggled a little. "Babe, nervous is an understatement. Finding out the gender only makes this all feel more real. I'm scared. What if I'm not a good mother." I felt the tears build up in my eyes, threatening to spill out. Stupid hormones.

Kian stood up and pulled me into a tight, loving hug. "You're going to be an amazing mother. Don't put yourself down without even giving yourself a chance." He softly wiped away a few tears that managed to escape.

I smiled up at him a little. Giving him the best smile I could.

"Thank you Kian. I love you."

"I love you too Hailey."

Kian leaned in a little, his lips just inches from mine. Then there was a knock on the glass door and Dr. Mike walked in.

"Hailey, so good to yous again!" Dr. Mike said extending his hand to Kian for him to shake it. Kian smiled and took it, shaking his hand.

"Glad to see you too Dr."

"Alright, let's get down to business shall we? I bet your dying to know the gender." He pulled my shirt up a little just high enough that he could see my stomach. Kian sat back down next to me taking my hand in his, and squeezing a little.

"Alright hun, this is going to be cold. Just a warning." He said as he put the clear gel onto my belly, and he was right. It was freezing. Dr. Mike rubbed the gel around on my belly with the little tube thing that was attached to the ultrasound machine. I leaned my head forward a bit to see the baby, and I saw Kian do the same. You could hear the baby's heartbeat, to me it sounded kind of like a horse galloping.

I glanced over a Dr. Mike who's smile faded into a serious, concentrated expression.

"Is everything alright?" Kian asked after a moment of silence. I squeezed his hand a little tighter in anticipation.

"Perfect. Everything is just fine. Your baby is healthy. Now. Are we ready?"

Kian and I both nodded in unison.

"Congratulations, y'all are having a baby girl."
