Turns out, ten and half hours of plane travel next to someone who had played American football and not washed was not the wisest of ideas I’d had in the world – it didn’t help that Gary had been like an excited five year old from the moment we got on the plane.
I was pleased to know though that he had gotten the scholarship he needed and that Coby, Sean and Liam would cover him for the week as well as Sam surprisingly.
I was still a bit concerned about how she found out about my leaving considering I didn’t tell anyone but hey ho… Things turned out well in the end.
Gary bounced about in his seat as the plane began to move getting in to position to take off – not that I had time to think or worry about the taking off since Gary was asking me all kinds of ridicules questions about England – such as ‘Do you know the Queen?’ and ‘Do you really drink tea in England all the time?’.
Naturally, I answered each of his questions as pleasantly as I could, even though I wanted to hit him over the head to shut him up – thankfully however, 5 hours into the flight he was fast asleep and I followed suit not long after only to be woken by Gary, who was once again bouncing in his seat as the pilot announced we’d be landing soon.
Still – in the time we’d been asleep, Gary had become stinkier and my worry of agreeing for him to come only escalated when I realized who I’d decided we’d be staying with.
I seriously should have thought this all through more thoroughly.
“Shit Tristen!! It’s fucking freezing here!” I snapped out of my frantic mindless worry and turned to Gary who was shivering and looking rather out of place in his football gear (minus padding and helmet). “You never said England was so shit ass cold”
“You never asked” I shrugged, walking ahead to find our luggage so we could get out of here quickly – I wasn’t fan of airports and having done this once already alone, I knew how stressed everyone can get – my self included.
“Alright Mr smarty pants, Whats the plan now we’re -- SHIT!” Gary suddenly cursed and upon turning I discovered his distress – a man stood in front of him, straightening out his grey expensive looking suit. He was just shorter then Gary but still a head taller then me… darn I was small.
“Sorry man, didn’t see you there” He looked apologetic, running a hand through his shortly cut dark brown hair as he bent down to pick up his shoulder bag that he must have dropped when they bumped together, though when he rose he seemed to realize something, his nose scrunching up as he looked up at Gary. “oh wow… don’t you smell… delightful”
“Say What!? Watch where you’re going Dickhead!” I flinched as Gary seemed to snap at the stranger words, his eyes blazing angrily as he took a threatening step towards the man who didn’t seem at all intimidated – still, I didn’t want a fight to break out when we’d only just got here!!
“GARY!” I stressed, running forward to grab his arm and attempt to drag him away “I’m really sorry, we’ve been on a flight for just over ten hours and we’re both pretty cranky” I chewed my lip, tugging Gary’s arm in hopes of distracting him but he just glared at the man.
“No worries kid, your friend is right. I apologize that I do not have eyes in the back of my head, doofus” I could have groaned, this was quickly turning into a blood bath.
“What chu call me?” Gary hissed, instantly taking a step forward though I rushed in front and placed my hands on his chest shoving him back.
“Gary please – we have a taxi waiting out side”
“Gary huh? Cute name” the man chirped up, a smirk lingering on his lips, a hand resting on his hip which he’d cocked to the side giving him a rather sassy stance.
