Avery

Once the Australian leg of the tour was over, the boys had two weeks off. Michael and I were headed to America. He was going to spend a week with me and then go home for a week. My parents didn't exactly know that we were dating yet. They knew we were friends, but that was it. They didn't exactly like Michael, for reasons that I don't really know. Hopefully they wouldn't be too upset when I told them that we were dating.

Right now, we were riding in the car on the way home from the airport. They were talking to Michael some and they didn't seem mad, but they still just thought that we were friends.

Michael knew that I hadn't told them and he hadn't exactly been thrilled about it, but I couldn't help it. I wanted to tell them in person, and yes, I was putting it off because I was dreading it so much.

Dad pulled into the driveway and we got out. We walked around to the back of his truck, and we got our bags out. Mom opened the door for us and we walked in.

"Avery, you can show Michael to his room." Mom said.

"Come on." I said to him.

He followed me upstairs. I dropped my bags off in my room and then led him down the hallway to the guest room.

"This is your room." I said.

"Looks nice." He said.

He sat his bags down and then turned to me. He wrapped me his in arms and drew me in for a kiss. When we pulled away, he was smiling.

"I've been wanting to do that since we got off the plane." He said.

"Well I'm glad you finally did." I smiled at him.

"So, when are we gonna tell your parents?" He asked.

"I honestly have no idea. I guess now is as a good a time as any."

"How about at dinner?" He said.

"Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll just tell them at dinner. Now I better get downstairs before Mom gets suspicious."

He laughed. "Okay, I'll unpack some."

"Okie, just make yourself at home." I said.

I walked downstairs and into the kitchen. Mom was cooking spaghetti and meatballs, my favorite. I sat down at the counter.

"Smells good." I said.

"It's your favorite." She said.

"Yeah, I know and I can't wait. It's been so long since I had it."

"I know and I'm so glad your home. How has the tour been so far?"

"Amazing. Mom it's been beyond belief. I love this job so much. I mean it's literally perfect, taking pictures of my favorite band and joining them all tour? It's a dream come true."

"I'm so glad. Your Dad and I are both so happy for you."

"For once, I'm actually genuinely happy."

"What about the boy? Anything going on there?"

Now here was the challenge. I couldn't lie to my own mother. I mean in just a couple of hours I would be telling her exactly what she wanted to know. So I just had to tell her, without exactly telling her. You know? But then she basically answered her own question.
