//I could look at this smile forever\\
Avery
I sat in a chair as my dad slept. He had been sleeping off and on for almost two days now. He was barely alert and I didn't know if he even knew that I was here. Mom had went home to try and get some rest, so I was staying here with him.
We didn't know exactly how it happened. Dad hadn't been awake enough to tell us. All Mom knew was that she had gotten a call from the hospital saying that someone had found him on the sidewalk, shot in the shoulder and back. The bullet just barely missed his spinal cord.
I just sat there watching his sleeping body. In all the years I had been with him, I had never seen him lie this still. He always moving, always working or fixing something around the house. As I sat there, I felt another presence in the room. I looked towards the doorway and Michael was standing there. As soon as it registered that it was him, I ran to him and he wrapped me in a hug. I buried my head in his neck and cried.
"I'm so sorry, Avery." He said.
I didn't say anything. I just melted in his arms and cried. It felt good to get the tears out that I had been holding in for so long. He eventually let me go and we both sat down in the chairs.
"How's he doing?" Michael asked.
"Okay, the doctors said that he'll have to take it easy for a while. He's still not very alert, he's been sleeping a ton. What are you doing here? You're supposed to be on tour."
"We had a couple days off so I decided to come see you."
"I'm so glad you did, but don't you have an interview to do somewhere?" I asked.
"Yeah, but the boys are covering for me."
"Okay, are you sure? I mean the fans are counting you."
"They can do without me for a little while. You need me more right now."
He put his arm around me and I laid my head on his chest. I loved this boy more and more. Just having him here had already helped me feel better. I know it was selfish, but I didn't want him to leave. I could just stay here with him forever.
-----------
A few hours had passed and my mom had arrived. Dad had woken up and he was a little more alert. Mom had sent me and Michael home so that we could eat and I could some rest. Michael drove me to the house, because I was way to sleepy to drive.
We pulled into the driveway and got out. I unlocked the door and literally fell onto the couch I was so exhausted. Michael sat down on the other end of the couch, while I curled up in a ball.
"You don't care if I take a little nap, do you?" I asked.
"Of course not. Sleep for as long as you want."
"Okay," I said.
I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
-------
"Well I did it."
I heard him say. It was dark and I didn't know where I was. He held a gun his hand.
"Why?" I screamed.
"He deserved it."
He moved to the side and there was a body. I couldn't make out who it was.
"I told you what would happen if you stayed with him."
"I love him!" I yelled.
"Do you think I care?" He laughed evily.
