Chapter 5: Nathaniel Nash Carter

Nathan's POV

I park my car right in front of a mansion. Hmm, this should be it. Judging it from the outside, it looks something Mom would definitely design.

I was still contemplating whether I should get out of my car and present myself or not. I mean, it's been months since I saw the twins and I'm not really in good terms with my brother. And now I'm banging my head against the steering wheel like an idiot.

"Oh Nathan, you're so stupid." I told myself.

Okay.. weird.

Why did I even agree to this?

'Maybe because YOU STILL CARE ABOUT YOUR SIBLINGS?' , said my conscience.

Of course I do. Don't get me wrong, I still worry about Kyle and the rest. It's just that.. I still have this grief and hatred towards them. Perhaps because of Andrea's death?

I quickly shake my head to clear my thoughts and exit my car.

Here goes nothing...

I ring the doorbell and footsteps were suddenly heard. It opens, revealing a grumpy-looking Tyler. Once he sees me, his eyes sparkle as if he's eyeing a treasure.

"Nathan, I missed you." I feel the sincerity in his voice and I carried him for a hug.

I truly missed this little boy, too. It felt like ages and I guess I shouldn't call him little anymore.

"How are yah, Ty?" I ask and I ruffle his fluffy hair.

"I'm doing great, I guess." He hesitates.

I kneel down to his height since he was still a few inches shorter. "Look dude, I know it's hard right now but together, we will get through this, okay? I'm always here for you."

He weakly smiles. "I know... it's just that, I miss all of you. We never got the chance to be completely together right before they died."

That caught me off guard. He's right. My little brother, who's a lot younger than I am, realized something I never did.

We never got the chance to be together for the last time.

'Things had changed, Ty... hope you keep that in mind', I thought.

"Well, good to know you're here." I hear Kyle tell me. Tyler and I look up at the second floor and there he was, by the staircase.

He went down and smiled at me in acknowledgement. I didn't know whether I should manhug him or shake his hand. It's just so awkward...

"It's been a while." I choke out while looking at the floor, avoiding eye contact.

Tyler must've noticed the tension so he spoke up, "Don't you see each other at work?"

"No, lil' bro. That's because he works in a different division of the company." Kyle explains as he pats his head.

"Ohh." he nods in understanding.

"So you said you needed me here?" I said, making Kyle nod.

"Yeah. Ty, could you play with Taylor in the gameroom for a moment?" He instructs the younger twin.

"Sure thing." He answers right before going off to the gameroom's direction.

My older brother went to the minibar so I take a seat on our couch. He returns with a bottle of whiskey and two glasses. He pours me a drink and he did the same for himself, then took a seat across me.

"Here," he offers me a glass but I decline. "Why not?"

"I'm driving." My answer was just casual.

"No, you don't have to. You can stay for the night."

"I have work tomorrow."

"Well, I called your secretary to cover up for you."

"Okay then," I take the glass in hand and sip from it. "What's it about then? Business?"

His deep voice chuckles. "Let's set that aside. We need to talk about Drew and the rest.."

"What about them?"

"Look, I just personally think it's about time for us to forget what happened 3 years ago and I don't know, fix this mess?"

I frantically nod. "I agree, though."

"We were stupid back then, you know and we shouldn't really blame each other for Andrea's loss."

"What's your plan?" I question him, raising an eyebrow in process.

"First, we'll be needing everyone here. Have you contacted them?"

"I called Drew yesterday, he said he'll try. As for the others, they'll try to clear their schedules, according to them."

"Great. Now, all we need is to have an open forum. Simple as that." He shrugs.

"We'll just... talk?" I reply in uncertainty.

"Uh huh. For starters, we caused all this crap so yeah, we need to talk."

"I guess you're right."

"You'll stay here for the night, yeah? You can just borrow my clothes." He finally concludes then he went back upstairs, up to his room.

How I missed my siblings so much. Well that's not new for a 22-year old dude like me. I just can't wait to be with them again.
