After my father made all of his arrangements it was figured out that he would be arriving the following day around noon. Dean and I wrote down everything we could think of that he and Lizette would need. Although this is not the ideal situation to leave Paul in, we know we need to move fast if we want to find this Rowena person. Sam, Dean, Castiel and I pack whatever we think may help us track her and keep her from eluding us. We have a plan in place, but we all know how deceiving and ugly witches can be.
"Lizette just texted me and their plane just landed. They should be here soon." I say twisting a piece of hair around my finger out of nerves.
Dean walks around behind me and starts rubbing my shoulders "it'll be fine" he says before moving his lips to my neck and gently kissing me.
I turn my head to side, allowing the sweet sensation to take over my body. His hands continue to rub my arms and shoulders softly and I close my eyes to enjoy it "get a room" Sam mocks walking into the living room of the cabin, throwing his bag down.
"Shut up" I snap back sarcastically and tilt my head back to get a kiss from Dean. He obliges and after our lips part he takes a seat next to me taking my hand in his lap. "You really think we can trap her?" I ask him, eagerly searching his face for confidence.
He shrugs "we've dealt with plenty of witches. Don't know why she'd be any different."
"Alright" I return, hoping he's right.
"Hi dad" I smile softly once I open the cabin door.
He smiles back and leans in for a hug. Our hands wrap around each other gently and when we release I get to see behind him. My smile vanishes when I see not only Lizette behind him, but my mother as well. Her face has a look of disgust as she stands in old mud from last night's storm. "oh, hi" I stumble with my words.
"Don't look so discouraged" she mocks me with an evil grin. "I won't be staying in this dump, I'm just here to meet this grandchild and I'll be on my way to whatever 5 star monstrosity they have around here" she tries to insult us.
I take a deep breath as Dean rests his hand on my back. We move aside and let the 3 of them in the house. We walk over to the playpen and I lift Paul out of it and he smiles happily "Paul, this is your grandma and grandpa" I say pointing towards the two of them. His eyes follow my fingers and his little head tilts just a bit and his smile shines towards them.
"He looks like I did as a baby, doesn't he Charlotte?" My father smiles larger and reaches his hands out to hold him.
"right down to the fat cheeks" she rolls her eyes in response "and I won't tolerate being called grandma, he can also call me Charlotte" she demands back.
"whatever" I roll my eyes back to her with a purse of my lips. Although I don't ever remember my dad holding me like he is Paul, a bit of jealousy runs through me. I'm envious of the already blooming relationship they are forming. I push the feeling down and replace it with joy by reminding myself that this is a good thing for both Paul and myself.
"Hello Mr. & Mrs. Monroe" Sam comes out from the kitchen now and greats them "I'm Dean's brother, Sam" he reaches his hand out to shake them.
My dad shakes it first with an obviously tight grip "Hello sir" he says
My mother's eyes light up like when she was with Dean and she steps towards him to introduce her self "please, call me Charlotte." she says as usual with a light hand shake. "Will you be helping us this weekend with young Paul here?" She gazes towards the baby but quickly looks back up to Sam.
"No, I'm actually tagging along with Hayden & Dean, I have some of my own business to take care of" he replies to her.
Her expression returns to annoyed "oh, alright" she says, returning to her post by the door waiting to leave. I talk with Lizette as my father plays with Paul and Dean talks with him. My mother continues to stands at the door impatiently waiting, occasionally tapping her foot to get the attention of her husband. She doesn't try to hold or engage with Paul at all, which makes me sure she won't be back to the house to spend any time with him while we are gone. "Really Martin, we must get going. Lizette will be just fine here." She says in a exasperated sigh.
"Alright dear." he repeats like he has been almost his entire life. He passes Paul over to Lizette who starts bouncing with him right away. The memory of her holding me as a little kid flashes through my head and I smile, she is a wonderful person who will take great care of him while we are gone.
I walk out with my parents, Dean right behind me and stand next to the rental car "I will be back to help Lizette with Paul after your mother gets settled in somewhere." He says before getting into the drivers side and starting the car. Dean and I wave goodbye as they pull out of the dirt driveway and away from the house.
"We should get going as well" Dean says lowly to me. I nod in return and walk back to the house to retrieve our bags. We put our things in the impala and say goodbye to both of them. They wave goodbye at the top of the driveway just as we did 10 minutes before and I stare back at them until they are no longer in site. We drive to our destination with AC/DC playing lowly in the background. I try to lose myself to the sound, ignoring the pit in my stomach as we leave Paul yet again for another hopeful return.
