I sit around the table waiting for Lucifer to return from trying to get the angels to agree to help. The only person I can stand to even look at is Sam so I make sure I'm across from him. "So the plan?" I ask when he gets back, all of us sitting around a table.
Sam explains "we assemble our band of brothers, hit Amara with everything we've got."
Chuck, as he told me he'd rather be called then God adds on "then when she's weak I finish her off."
"So a page from the original playbook" Dean utters "only this time with witches and demons subbing for archangels."
"Exactly." Chuck says, almost with a smile on his face.
"I still don't like it." I say to all of them.
I don't want her trapped, I want her dead. Dean actually agree's with me and says "yeah, but why trap her when you can kill her, you know? I-I mean, you got to admit, there's a lot less room for error if you shoot to kill."
"I explained why. Light needs dark, the ying and yang factor. If she's dead the whole universe will be out of order."
"Right, but why keep her in play?" Dean gets out "so she can escape and we can go through this all over again?"
"Dean, what is this about?" Sam asks his brother.
"I -- Nothing. Am I the only one thinking rational here?" Dean asks us all, now standing.
Lucifer chimes in "it's about her. Sam, it's about his girlfriend."
Lucifer whispers the last few words but knows I heard him. Dean mutters "okay, shut up."
But Lucifer doesn't let it go "I mean, think about it. Dean Winchester meets the biggest evil in the universe, and he takes a pass? Come on. Now he wants Daddy to do what he couldn't."
"Is he right?" Sam asks him.
I don't need to hear any of this, because I already know it's right. Dean can't kill Amara, he's too connected or drawn or involved with her. It makes me sick to hear but I just sit back in the chair and let them all converse. I'm here for one reason and that's to help my son. Dean spits to his brother "oh, I'm not getting into it with him. Not gonna happen."
Lucifer mocks "hey, Dean. Come on, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. We opened a vein for you two."
Dean exhales and says to us all, looking at me though "I tried to kill her. And it didn't work."
"Maybe it didn't work because you didn't want it to work." Chuck offers.
Dean's eyes flash to his, then to Sam's "maybe you didn't want to kill her. You want God to kill Amara because you don't want Amara to be killed?" Sam offers out.
Dean stands tall, and he looks at me when he answers "Alright, yeah, maybe there's a part of me that just can't hurt her. But if she's already dead--"
"Then she's already dead" Sam finishes his sentence "right"
"Well, that got weird." Lucifer sings out.
Sam says "Dean, we always sweat this stuff, these choices. But, for once, we have God on our side. I mean, for once, we can actually just do things his way."
"Fine." Dean spits, leaving the room.
As the rest of us go to leave the room Sam stays behind to talk to Chuck. I listen in to the conversation as Chuck tells Sam that Dean can't bare the mark again, that's he's already tainted and it wouldn't work. He also says how Lucifer can't do it, leaving only him. Sam agree's to take on the mark and I make sure to move away from the open door before Sam walks out, so he doesn't know I overheard. Once Sam is gone, I go to Chuck myself "am I able to carry the mark?"
