You don't have to give it all away...
"Dean," his frantic eyes met yours and they softened momentarily, "I'll be better. Come on, I'll be better." Your voice was cracking and hoarse, paining Dean to see you like this. "No, I can't let you d–d—" he couldn't get the word out. "—I can't let you leave. It's my job to save people—" you gripped his arm.He stopped and looked down at you, watching your every movement. "Your job—" you coughed and blood splattered on his shirt. "—sorry. Your job is to make sure people are safe and, yes, alive." Dean stayed silent. "I-I want to leave. You don't need to save me, you already did." Dean stared at the sky, his eyes watering.
"No! I-I didn't save you!" You glowered at him the best you could. You whimpered in pain before continuing. "You saved me m-more than you can i-imagine. All those times, you c-can't possibly—" you coughed so hard your body shook and blood spattered on yourself. "Just let me go..." You whispered, your voice cracking.
Dean stayed sitting on the ground, your body in his hands. "[Y/N] don't—I can't." A tear rolled down his face and you looked up at the sky. "Don't hurt yourself to make other p-people happy," Dean brought you closer, noticing how pale you were becoming at an alarmingly fast rate. "P-Promise me you'll-ll t-take better c-care of y-your-yourself." You kept stuttering, the lack of oxygen getting to you. Your body slowed down, going numb. Your heart slowed, going to a faint bump. Your brain buzzed trying to keep you alive, but it stopped working, stopping slowly.
"P-Pro-promise me, D-Dea..." You trailed off, panicking but not showing it. You were dying now. It was all crashing and coming like an inevitable wave. You could feel your head become heavy and lay back, a hand softly holding you up. Another hand held your body close to a warm, beating one. Lastly, your heart weakened from exhaust. "I promise." Dean whispered to you, crying. You could feel his warm tears fall onto you, but you were numb. Your vision faded first, then your sense of touch, your smell, your taste, your hearing.
Dean sobbed when he saw your eyes looking up at the sky, glossy and dull. Your heart finally stopped and put you out of your pain. He shakily touched your face and felt the warmth leaving your body. The blood on you was bright compared to your once lively skin. He sobbed and held you close, despite the fact you were gone now.
Your laugh, your smile, your touch and welcoming words—Dean could hear them all. "[Y/N]!" He shouted, crying. He rocked slowly, his body numb. The pain went away, undoubtedly to return later on. "I promise..." He cried. "I promise..."
You were dead and he was dead inside. Dean lost another family member, and it was all his fault.
