15th Chapter : "Did he lie? " (Part 2)

Riley POV :

It's been an hour since I got home, but I still didn't get a call, nor message, from Selma.

I hear someone open, then close the door to our apartment.

"I'm home!"

Screams my dad.

"I know"

I yell back as I walk to the living room, where he was standing.

Corey Mathews smiles at me, his daughter, before throwing his old leather school satchel, on the couch, walking to me and planting a kiss on my forehead, then going to the kitchen, where I follow him.

When I reach the room, my dad already had a bowl full of milk and cereal.

Damn he's fast...

I think as I take a seat in front of him.

I put my phone, who was until now in my hands, on the table.

"How was your day?"

I ask him.

"Great. Your new friend Maya sure is something"

He answers with a smirk.

I can't help but smile back, remembering the funny puns, and jokes, Maya let out during History, today.

Like the time she asked my father why did World War 1 end so fast, whereas World War 2 lasted longer. Corey started giving her a reasonable explanation but she shut him up by telling him he was wrong.

"WW1 ended fast because they were Russian, whereas WW2 took a long time because were Stalin"

She had answered, making the class laugh.

"Yeahhh I like her too dad"

I tell him and his smile gets wider for some reason.

"How was yours?"

Asks my father.

"Long. Awful and full of surprises, for a first day"

I say as I remember all the important events that happened today. Like for example, the whole Austin vs Maya thing, and lastly, Selma's information about Joey's maybe deceased wife.

I repeat. That's a lot for a first day.

Dad nods his head, and we keep talking for a few minutes, about everything and nothing, until he finally finished his cereals.

As I predicted, the glances I occasionally stole at my phone, during our conversation, didn't go unnoticed by my father:

"Waiting for a phone call?"

He asks as he raises his eyebrow.

"A boyfriend maybe?"

He adds in a teasing tone.

I playfully roll my eyes.

"Why would you assume that?"

I ask as a smile works its way to my lips. A smile I couldn't hide, no matter how hard I tried.

My father loses his smirk.

"Oh sorry...Is it a girlfriend then?"

My faces heats up and I blush at his words.

I never really told my father I was into girls as well. He didn't know I was bisexual, but then again, I only fell for one girl, and it sadly had to be Samantha. I've always liked boys in the past, somehow, she was my exception.
