Nathan felt like an alarm went off in his head. He looked down at his own identification tag and his eyes widened. This must have been the reason the Colonel insisted everyone should wear the tags. They must have an embedded microphone different from the one that got activated by pushing the first number on the tag.

"Can they hear us right now?" The look on his face showed that he knew the answer to his question.

"No." Nurse Reese replied, both shocking and relieving Nathan. "Your hidden microphone has been dead since you got the tag."

"Huh?"

Nathan had no idea how she knew that.

"Is she spying on me?"

"Who disconnected the microphone?" He asked, looking at her suspiciously.

"If I were to bet, I'd place my money on Borgina." She replied.

At this point, Nathan was confused. If Borgina truly disconnected his microphone, then she did it to protect him from a fate similar to Becky's. That meant she still had his best interest at heart. Why then will she try to hurt him by turning his life supporting systems off? If Nurse Reese did it on the other hand, then she had no reason to turn the systems off. She had gotten several opportunities to turn him in if she wanted to, but she protected him every time.

"Listen, Nathan. I know you're suspicious of me right now. In time, you'll see I have no ulterior motive. I simply want to prevent the death of innocent people. I failed with Becky. I want to make it right."

Nathan didn't know why he believed her, but he did. She sounded genuine, but so did Borgina.

"We should leave. I'll download the files to my spare storage and transfer them directly to your computer. That way, they wouldn't go over the network." Nurse Reese stated.

"Thanks." Nathan replied.

"You're welcome." Nurse Reese smiled.
