"She went through hell and came back, an angle. You didn't break her, darling. You don't own that kind of power."

It's been a month since graduation and my family has decided that we should invite the Parra family to the beach. I had no choice in that matter. My parents said that it was so that 13 years of friendship between the two families doesn't get tainted by a misfortune.

"Hey cutie, what's your name." I look up to see a cute guy with dark hair and blue eyes.

"Mia." I bat my eyes in a flirty manner.

"What's your's."

"Zack. I wanted..." He was cut of by Alexander.
"Hey dude, she is off limits." I look at Alexander and he looks angry.

"Sorry dude, I didn't know she was taken." Zack says as he walks away.

"What the fuck is your problem, Alexander?" I yell at him.

"It's too soon for you to be dating." He goes and sit downs on the towel next to me.

"Excuse me?" Who does he think he is?

"I just think that, not so long ago you lost a child, you need time to recover.

"I know I lost a child, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to give up on going out and meeting guys, just to stay home and sob."

"Mimi, I..."

"It's Mia." I interrupted him.

"Mia, I'm just trying to protect you from being hurt."

"I don't need your protection. I am capable of finding someone else to take that job." I get up from my towel as I say the last part.

"Mimi, let's lay down on the towels and enjoy the sun." I turn to look at Vanessa.

"Okay." I run to my bag to grab my towel again.

"You look good in that." I turn to the person with that voice.

"Um, thank you." I reply to Mr. Parra. I turn to leave after I have grabbed my towel.

"You should show your legs more often." I pretend I didn't hear and I head to lay next to Vanessa. Disgusting pig!!!

"What are you planning on doing next fall?" She asks me.

"Um I haven't decided. I got my acceptance letter from Oregon, but my parents want me to stay here."

"Whatever you decide, let's make this summer unforgettable." She says as she closes her eyes.
"Yeah." I reply as I, too, close my eyes.

I look at the locker that is placed behind a glass window. The locket was rose gold and it was in the shape of a heart.

"Omg that locket looks beautiful."Cassia says as we continue looking at the locket in front of us.

I turn to the lady on the other side of the counter.

"Can I get that one." I tell the lady. She slides the glass and grabs it.

"It's very beautiful, you can put whatever picture you would like on the inside." She says as she hands it to me. "It has room for only one picture because on the other side you can have anything engraved."

"What if I don't want a picture? Can I just get something engraved?" I return the locket to her.

"Of course, what would you like it to say?"

"In the front I want it to say 'Angel' and on the inside I want it to say 'per sempre amore mio'."
"Are you sure?" I turn to Cassia.

"Yes. I want to have her close to my heart."
The lady interrupts us.

"I can have it done in an hour, so if you want you can pay half now and walk around the mall for a while then come back for it and pay the rest."

"Sure, how much is it?"

"150."

"Are you sure? That's a lot of money."

"I'm sure. I got money for graduation and this is only half." I turn to the lady. "I'll give you 75 right now."

After I give her the money and she hands me the receipt, Cassia and I make our way out.

"Let's go grab something to eat, I'm hungry." I make my way toward the restaurant.

"What are you going to get? You seem very happy today. You never eat when we are out."

"I need to live for my angel. I don't want to cry no more. I just want to feel young again, like before." We walk to the tables and we sit in one. "I'm going to get sea food."

"That's good. I'm happy for you."

"Oh god, that locket is so pretty. When did you get it." Vanessa asks me as we lay in her bed reading and talking.

"I got it yesterday while I was at the mall with Cassia." I hold the locket and I look at Vane. "It's beautiful, right."

"Very." She takes it from my hand and takes a better look at it.

"Angel." She then opens it. "Per sempre, amore mio. I think I know what it means." She looks up at me. "Forever, my love."

"Yes." I choke on my answer.

"Well it's really pretty." She let goes of it.

"Want to watch a movie? I want to watch Hangover."

"Yeah put it on."

"When you turn 21 we have to celebrate it in Vegas. We can go clubbing and drinking."

"Yes! I want to go there."

"Hopefully by then we are still single. I don't want to be in Vegas with a husband or kids. Then we won't have fun." Vane says.

"True. They are going to take all the fun away."

"Omg we should stay at the MGM or Caesar Palace. Some where fancy."

"What are you guys talking about?" We both turn to look at Alexander.

"We are planing our trip to Vagas. Want to come." I ask him.

"You do realize we are underage, right?" He has a question look on his face.

"Yes. We know, we are planning for when I turn 21. We are going to party all night." I smile when I say party.

"I'm in, I guess, I don't want you girls in Vegas by yourselves." I look at him. This the first time he has made a comment about spending time with us. Every time we talk about a road trip he says that they are stupid plans that won't come true and then he leaves the room.

"You don't think it's stupid?" I ask.

"I'll go where ever you girls go." He smiles at me.

"Okay." He can probably see the question look on my face.

"Want to watch another movie?" We both nod.

I like this, when I feel like we never got hurt. I want to always feel like this, happy.
