Amber p.o.v

I walked up to the door and knocked softly, whereas before I would be able to just burst into the house, I now had to knock, maybe the people inside would not recognize me anymore. She opened the door and gasped, she held her composure though and then she smiled sweetly "i knew you would come back". She wrapped me in her arms and I hugged her back quickly, it had been so long since I had seen her.

"Hey lydia"

I quickly went inside and shut the door, she gave me a confused glance but then her features eased with understanding "you aren't back for good reasons are you" she stated rather then asked. The fact that lydia was a banshee made it harder for me to lie to her, not that I ever made it comfortable for me to do so. "I think we have a lot of catching up to do" I confided.

We sat for what felt like hours just talking and talking and we laughed just as much as we cried, seeing Lydia get angry at my father and at my mother, at Joe and then at Isaac for never looking for me. "H-how are they?" i interrupted, she cleared her throat and smiled "scott has a pack" she began "of incredibly strong and kind people, there has not been a crime or fatalities in this town in a very long time" i smiled, the feeling of hearing that scott had accomplished his goals were fulfilling. "Allison...didn't make it, she passed a year ago" I leaned forward, the shock hitting my stomach, the nausea settling in. "i-i" i spoke but there was nothing to be said, i wasn't there for my friends when they needed me the most and i hated myself for it.

She grabbed both of my hands and smiled "it's okay" she affirmed "we moved past it, we mourned her and remembered her" tears spilled down my cheeks as she spoke "i mean the whole town did and now we know she is at peace". The guilt was relentless though, it stayed in the knot in my throat.

"Stiles is in college, hes doing pretty well" she smiled "we are engaged" she giggled as she showed off her ring, i smiled as i took her hand in mine and admired the diamond "and isaac" she looked at me as i snapped my head to the sound of his name.

"Hes married but they argue all the time, the kid could never get over you, even if he tried, poor thing" she pondered, her eyes falling to the window looking outside. "Be careful amber" she drifted the conversation away from Isaac "because although there is this peace now" I shifted in my seat "it doesn't mean it will last forever".

No P.O.V

Amber sat in the silent diner, her hoodie wet from the rain outside, she hadn't ate all day, registering all the information Lydia had given her. The death of Allison, one of her closest friends, she wasn't even at the funeral, all this time she was under the impression that she was alive and well, she hadn't been able to stop crying since. Her father had never said anything in the few trips he had made to see her and she came to the conclusion that he didn't want her to come back here so why would he even tell her.

She took a sip from her coffee and looked out the window, the rain falling in patterns on the glass. A couple of people quickly ran into the diner to avoid the rain, she heard laughter and giggling "you guys sit down i'm going to the bathroom" she sat still, the voice quickly recognizable. She tensed as the tall figure walked past her booth and into the bathrooms by the corner, she quickly looked around and noticed a couple of college kids chatting 2 booths down behind her.

She became nervous, she knew he was here, they were both in the same building, she fixed her bangs and slipped the hood from her head, she looked over at one of the waitresses who noticed her frantic movements, she unzipped the hoodie just a bit and crossed her legs, she felt foolish, he probably wouldn't recognize her she thought, what would they even talk about she told herself.

She kept her eyes on her coffee mug because if she kept staring at the bathroom door waiting for him to step out she would have a heart attack.

"Amber?"

His voice was soft compared to the chatter of the voices behind her, she could barely hear when he said her name but she could smell his cologne since he walked past her booth so she knew he was there. She raised her eyes from the mug to his face slowly but when she was finally able to take him in, she was left breathless.

"I-isaac" she stammered.

He smiled widely, his eyes glowing.

She gestured for him to sit and his eyes fell on the booth behind her but he didn't have time to be polite and excuse himself with his friends, he had more important things to do like talk to the love of his life who was sitting in this booth after 2 years drenched in rain. He wanted to ask her everything, he wanted to know if she had been okay all this time, above all he wanted to see if she still loved him, if there was a possibility in this earth that they could be together.

"H-how have you been?" he choked slipping inside the booth in front of her, she bit the bottom of her lip as if to hold back on the urge to kiss him. "It has been okay" she began and then sighed "a bit hectic, you can say" he nodded, he knew what she meant. "I could say the same" he confessed, amber shifted in her seat as his eyes scanned every inch of her. If he could pinch himself to wake himself he would but it was too good of a dream.

"I missed you" her voice cracked at the confession, she couldn't stop shaking, her whole body tensed and soothed all at the same time. She wanted to cry, she wanted to run to him and hold him, she wanted to say so many things but that is all she could say right now.

"I missed you too" he gasped in relief, he was looking for a sign and he wanted to hear it from her lips that he wasn't holding onto nothing. "Why didn't you look for me" she cried, her eyebrows furrowed, her cheeks red.
"I tried"
That is all he could say, there was no excuse for him,he should've tried harder, he should've done everything but give up.
She slid her coffee mug to the end of the table and clasped her hands together
"That is not enough for me isaac"
She seethed.

"That is not enough for me isaac because i tried okay?" he looked at her, how hurt she was and it caused tears to slip down his cheeks as well "i tried to run away so many times, i got tied to my bed" amber looked behind her and then to the waitresses before looking at isaac. For some reason she was angry  when all she wanted to do was to get lost in him.

"I thought you were better off without me" isaac agonized.

They sat silent for a while, Isaac's friends glazing over to where the couple sat a couple of times.

"I never was" she hesitated.

He stood up and sat beside her this time, his cologne overwhelming as the wave of emotions rocked amber williams over and over again, the warmth he radiated bringing her to a sobbing mess, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head and cried into her hair.

And they sat there sobbing like teenagers once again.
