What! He likes me back?! How could someone like him want to be with someone like me? I'm nothing special I'm a mess!
"Wait a minute, you like me?"
"I'd hope so," he chuckles, "I just asked you to be my girlfriend, it would be kind of a bad thing if I didn't."
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Well, in that case, yes." His brown eyes light up and his smile grows into this silly grin. It's absolutely adorable.
His smile fades and his eyebrows furrow as eyes leave my face. His own turns into one of concern.
"Dan?"
"Yeah?" He looks back at me and grins.
"You were right." His eyes are puzzled. "I love it here." He relaxes, and smiles, showing off the prominent dimple in his left cheek.
After a while he looks at me again. I return the gaze and he opens his mouth.
"I have another question for you.""And what is that?" I respond, feeling a bit uneasy.
"I know we only just got together, but when am I allowed to kiss you?"
"I guess you'll just have to wait and see," I respond with a smile and a wink.
"Alright," he smiles. "But hugs are still allowed right?"
"Of course! Hugs are always allowed." I respond.
"Good," he stands. He holds his hand out and I take it, standing to meet him. He wraps his arms around me in the most comforting way I have ever been hugged, and I hug him back, feeling more than loved. I feel him rest his chin on my head and rubs my back with his thumb.
How did I end up being asked out by the literal definition of perfection? What have I even done to deserve this? To deserve someone like him?
I decide to push those thoughts away and just enjoy the moment. We stay like that for a good while until he finally pulls away and intertwines our fingers. He leads me back to his car and tells me to wait while he packs up the picnic basket and stuff.
