Another hospital bed. Only this time, whenever I wake up, I'm in excruciating pain. In my legs, arms, neck, ribs, everywhere. When I wake up, nurses com in and inject me with more fluids. They say they're pain killers, but they do nothing to dull the sharp stabs.

It's the longest three (apparently four) nights of my life. Dan's different as well. He's distant, and when he doses off, he mutters things like, "All my fault," and such. Does he think he caused the accident? I don't blame it on him at all. It was the drunk driver Dan couldn't have stopped it if he tried.

On the fifth night, my pain killers finally kick in. I'm pain-free and energized.

"Dan!" He grumbles. "Dan! Wake up!"

"Yeah? Are you in pain?" he asks worriedly.

"Not at all! Let's go do something!"

  "Like?"

  "Let's go on an adventure!"

  "To where?"

  "The store!"

"Chloe, it's 1O:OOpm. None are open."

"Then let's drive around! I want to get out of here!"

  "But you can't."

"I'll keep my mouth shut if you do"

"Sneaky. I like it. But we're stopping at the flat."

"Fine by me, I need to bathe!" Dan helps me put on some sweats and his coat. I run a brush through my hair until I look civilized. He helps me into the wheelchair, and we leave a sleeping Phil on the couch.

Somehow, we make it out unnoticed, and Dan pushes the wheelchair and me all the way to his flat. I feel bad because he's panting the whole way, but it's not like I can do much.

I take my bath, somehow, and Dan helps me into some fresh, clean sweats and a long sleeved shirt. I throw on some slippers, and grab a fuzzy blanket.

He cleans himself up as well, and we decide on a place that's always open, and almost nobody knows about.

     The waterfall.
