Chapter 19, Dan

     After I drop Chloe off and am home on the sofa in the lounge, it's around midnight. I just turn on the Xbox when I hear some moving around in the kitchen.

  I get up to investigate, only to find Phil making himself a bowl of my cereal.

  "How was the date?" he asks, "Did she enjoy the waterfall?"

  "Good, and she loved it. But Phil?"

  "Hm?" he hums.

  "Cereal at midnight? And not just any cereal, but mine? Really?"

  "Shut up!" he says in his Northern accent that pops up every so often. I chuckle as he leans against the counter.

  "What do you mean by good? Why not great? What happened?" he insists.

  "Nothing really. Just asked her out is all."

  "REALLY?"

  "Yeah," I laugh at his enthusiasm.

  "Well? What'd she say?"

  "Phil, you sound like a fangirling teenager."

  "I don't care! Just tell me!" he demands with big blue eyes.

  "I don't believe I heard a 'please' in there," I say teasingly.

  "Oh my gosh Dan! Will you PLEASE tell me what she said?" I pause and smirk, taking my time.

  "For the love of dance Dan would you just-"

  "Yes." I say quietly.

  "What?"

  "Yes," I repeat, this time a little bit louder than the last.

  "DAN'S GOT A GIRLFRIEND! DAN'S GOT A GIRLFRIEND!" he chants loudly.

  "Shut up you twat! Our neighbors are going to come knocking at our door any minute!" I shout. He giggles, and continues eating his cereal. He's so immature but I love him to death.

  "I can't believe she actually likes me that way..." I say to no one in particular.

  "I can't believe you actually asked her out," Phil remarks.

  "Hey!" I playfully hit his arm, causing him smile. He finishes his bowl and washes up before heading out to the hallway.

  "Well, I'm going to bed, Goodnight Romeo," he says.

  "Goodnight Phil." I space out for a little while longer, then head out into the lounge to watch TV for a bit. Sleep takes over, as I find myself waking up the next morning on the sofa.
