Sage

"Sage, your father is divorcing me" My mother stomped into the room with a scowl on her face.

Myself and Camilla both looked at her.

"Wow, really?" I asked.

"Is that all you have to say? He's breaking up our family for God's sake"

"No offense, but our family was already broken. Dad, Daniel, and I are on a different page than you" I spoke softly.

I knew that I shouldn't have said that, but it was too late to take my words back.

It was also the truth and there was no getting around it.

"What does that mean?"

"Daniel doesn't even recognize you as his mother. You're not even here half the time"

Her hand smoothly glided across my face.

I've never been smacked before, but it didn't really hurt.

It was a weird tingly sensation and then it felt like my cheek went to sleep.

I looked at her to see Camilla smack her in the face.

My mouth hung open, shocked that Camilla had even put her hands on her.

It was unexpected.

"You're fired, you dumb little servant bitch" My mother spat.

"I don't work for you, I work for Charles" Camilla spoke quietly.

On que, my dad walked in. "What's going on in here?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Fuck all of you, I'm suing you for everything that you've got" My mother spat bitterly.

"Get out" My dad looked her directly in the eye. "I want you out of my house now"

He sounded so calm, and it was throwing me off.

I had never seen my mom act this way.

"That's why I fucked one of your guards!"

"Like I didn't know. Serenity, you're not as slick as you think you are"

Two guards came to escort her out of the house.

"Go live with your ex-guard friend. I'm sure he doesn't mind company or an extra mouth to feed."

"We won't mind living off of your money, either" She called and I could hear her screaming and throwing a fit.

It was childish.

"You signed a prenup, Serenity. You were so sure that we were going to stay together forever, that you tried to sign two. Everything belongs to me, and since you're already in a relationship, I'm not liable for giving you money. Also tell your parents that someone else will be paying for their home because I'm done. Those bastards never liked my Sage anyways"

I sat on my stool and scowled at my wall.

Frustration was written all over my face.

I wanted to work on the tops of the buildings, but my calf prohibited that.

A heavy sigh escaped my lips and I pouted, feeling defeated.

"Maybe I should just give up for now"

Part of me refused to quit.

The part of me that never took no for an answer.

Just as I stood, my phone rang.

I inched over to my oversized bed and grabbed my phone.

The digits flashed across my screen, and I found myself blushing.
